  • Assign tasks in Workfront
Transcript
So, let’s jump right in. Here I am in Slack. I’m team lead and I’m talking with my coworker Chris. So once upon a time, I would have jumped over to Workfront to add a new task to my conference swag project. Not anymore though. With the new Workfront and Slack integration, all I need to do is type a simple Workfront command anywhere in Slack. Forward slash Workfront or forward slash WF, then add task and the name of the task, which in this case is create giveaway prize flyer. Then I push enter. Now our Workfront plugin pops up here. And don’t worry, whether you’re direct messaging someone or are chatting in a particular channel, you’re the only person in Slack that can see this interface. We need to click on this drop down menu and select a project to add this task to. I search for the name of the project. In this case, it’s conference swag. So I select that option and then I’m prompted to assign the task to a user. I type in Chris’s name and we’re good to go. I’m not off the hook yet. I need to add a task for myself as well. I use the same formula forward slash WF add task, but this time I put the name of the task that I’ll be working on, which is choose giveaway prize. Now notice that I can either add it to a project or I can add to my work. If I chose the add to my work option, then the task would be added to my work page. In this case, I want this task to be connected to the conference swag project. I have two options to find that project. I can type the first couple of letters of the project name and it’ll pop up. Or if I forget the name of the project I’m trying to assign it to, I can type percent sign and then push the space bar to pull up a full list of all the projects I have access to. And here it is. So I click on the title of the project and assign the task to myself. Thanks for listening.
