When you create a template from a project, the project team of the project is included by default. In this project, we can go to the People section to view the project team. This is a list of all the people who either have been assigned to task in the project or who have roles such as sponsor or owner, or who are manually added to the team. Workfront wants to make it easy for these people to receive notifications relating to the project, because there are several notifications that can be enabled for the project team, like these. But what if you’re creating a template from this project? You probably don’t want to include these same people in your template, and you may hear complaints from people who keep getting notifications about projects they have nothing to do with. The easiest way to exclude them is to choose Clear Assignments when you’re creating the template. This will erase the entire team. We’ll go ahead and do that. Now we’ll open the template and check out the project team. Empty, just like we want it. And nobody is assigned to any template tasks. This is great. But maybe you want to assign Anne to the Program Guide Copy task, because she’s always the one that does this for Expo booths. Then you find out that it’s really Bert who always does this for Expo booths. So you change it to Bert. Look at what happened to your project team. Both Anne and Bert are in there. This is why you want to know how to edit the project team in the template. It’s easy to end up with people on the team who don’t need to be there.
