To deactivate a project template, you need to have Manage Rights to the template. You can grant Manage Rights by going to Template Sharing. I’m going to share this template with David White and give him Manage Rights. It doesn’t matter which advanced settings are checked or unchecked. David will still be able to activate and deactivate this template as long as Manage It is selected. I’m giving him rights to manage this template, but I’m going to restrict rights to delete it in this case. Now I’m logged in as David White. Click on New Project from Template. Notice that when I create a project from a template, our test template shows up in David’s list. This is because I shared it with him. Anyone who the template is shared with, even if they only have view rights, will be able to see it in this template list. Now let’s go and deactivate this template. I go to Templates. Select the template to deactivate. Click the three dot menu. And I have the option to deactivate the template. Now let’s go back to our Templates list. If I change the view to a custom view that has the active status, I can easily see which of these templates are active and which are not active. Another way to deactivate templates is through a bulk edit. I can select a couple of templates here. Choose Edit. And set Active to No. Notice that all the templates still appear in this list. They all still exist and can be edited and shared, but they won’t be available to create projects unless they are active. Let’s go back to our projects. Create a new project from the template. And all we have is this one active template. Let’s go back to our Templates list for a minute. And notice that if you do have this Is Active column, this is another way to easily activate or deactivate any template that you have rights to.
