Upload a proof of a website In this video, you will learn how to Upload a website as a static proof and Upload a website as an interactive proof PDFs, images, and text files may not be the only type of content your teams create and review through Workfront. Changes to website or new web pages may go through the same review and approval process. Those web pages and other interactive content can be reviewed using Workfront. Workfront’s proofing features support interactive content such as websites, streaming videos, HTML5, animations, or interactive banners. This means, as teams or organizations are building a new website or updating web pages, proofs can be generated and the same proofing workflows already created for other types of files can be used. Two types of website proofs can be uploaded in Workfront, static and interactive. A static proof generates basic screenshots of a website that reviewers can access in the proof viewer. An interactive website proof is a fully realized version of the website with running animations, active links, and functioning drop-down menus. Upload a static website proof Start the upload just like any other type of file. Open the project, task, or issue and go to the documents section. Then select proof from the add new menu. Enter the URL of the website in the green box and hit return or enter. Then click the entry in the items list. From here, rename the proof and decide if it’s a static proof, use the capture screenshot option, or an interactive proof. With a static proof, select the resolution for the screenshots. If the web content will be viewed on different types of devices, generate proofs using the appropriate resolution. A separate proof is created for each resolution selected. Next, indicate if the website’s sub pages should be captured as part of the proof. Once the box is checked, a list of sub pages will appear. Check the boxes next to the ones you want. Finish the upload by filling out the basic or automated proof workflow information and clicking create proof. Once the proof is generated, a thumbnail of the web page appears in the documents list. The proof recipients receive the usual new proof email notification. When they open the proof viewer, they see the web page as a continuous scroll. Upload an interactive website proof. After entering the website URL in the proof upload window, select it in the list and click interactive. If Workfront detects any problems with the website, a brief message appears. Fill in the workflow information and finish the upload by clicking create proof. The interactive website proof appears as an HTML5 icon in the documents list. And, of course, recipients get the new proof email to let them know a proof is ready for their review. Interactive website proofs open in the desktop proofing viewer, which looks and works exactly like the browser-based viewer. Proof reviewers have a continuous scroll of the main page on the website and can click on the menu options to navigate through the website. Use Workfront’s proofing features to review and approve your content and deliver the best possible web experience for your users.

Interactive content considerations

As you start proofing websites, you may find that Workfront doesn’t support every configuration or situation. Certain criteria must be met:

  • The website must be hosted with a secure protocol, meaning the website address starts with https.
  • The website to be proofed cannot be embedded in an iframe.
  • The website must be accessible to the reviewers.
  • The website needs to be publicly accessible, meaning it can’t be behind a firewall.
  • When creating static website proofs, the website cannot be password protected.

Your turn

IMPORTANT
Don’t forget to remind your co-workers you’re sending them a proof as part of your Workfront training.
  1. Open a project, task, or issue that you’re using for hands-on practice in Workfront. Make a static proof of your organization’s website. If it doesn’t meet the static proof criteria, you can use adobe.com.
  2. Next, make an interactive proof of your organization’s website. You can use adobe.com if the other website won’t work.
