Install and use a Blueprint
Learn how an Administrator installs a blueprint and how a user puts it to use. In this example we will install the “Workfront Training for New Users” blueprint, and use the templates and views it creates as a training checklist to help enable users in Workfront.
In this training we will install the Workfront Training for New Users blueprint and use the templates and views it creates as a training checklist to help enable users in Workfront.
The first step can be done by any user who has rights to view blueprints. We’re logged in as Bert Cooper who is a manager of new hires who will be workers on his team. He wants to make sure they take the right training and he wants to track their progress. He has heard there is a blueprint for new user training so he decides to look for it. Bert goes to the main menu and clicks blueprints.
There are lots of blueprints here and rather than search the entire list he decides to look for the word training. That brings him to the Workfront Training for New Users blueprint. Bert can’t use this blueprint unless it’s installed.
He clicks on details to see if it’s installed or not.
In the installation history he reads this blueprint has not been installed on any of your environments.
So his next step is to request an administrator to install it.
So we log out as Bert. Back in here is Roy the administrator.
We navigate to blueprints. Roy Campbell is a system administrator. When he navigates to this blueprint he sees the details button which he uses to verify that this has not yet been installed.
Since he sees that it’s not yet been installed he can just begin the installation from here by clicking on begin installation.
He can click on any of these environments to do the install in. Or if he wants to install it in his production environment he’ll just click continue. He’ll click install as is.
And then the blueprint is getting installed. These are the objects that were installed. Three new project templates.
And two new views.
Depending on the blueprint there may be many new objects created. In cases where an object already exists in the system you’ll see this status used existing. Initially the new objects are not shared with anyone. So Roy shares them with Bert who requested the blueprint.
So we’ll go to templates. And here are the three templates that were just created. And we’ll share the templates with Bert. And he’ll need to have edit rights to make edits to the templates if he wants. The two views that we want to share are training template and training user. So training user is a task view.
Training template is a template task view. These can just be done with view access. Now we’ll log back in as Bert.
We’ll go to the templates. And here are the three templates that are shared with Bert now. Let’s open this one.
And there’s going to be instructions in the template details. So whatever the instructions are, these instructions are in the template description. When instructions are provided be sure and follow them carefully.
