Signing a document with Acrobat Sign is quick and easy. In this tutorial, learn how to review and sign documents that have been sent to you. You will receive an email message like this one when you have been sent a document to sign. Select Review and Sign to open the document in your browser. Acrobat Sign makes it easy to review and sign on desktop or mobile, and provides the same functionality in similar ways. In your browser, you’ll see the document you’ve been asked to sign, and a blue navigation bar that indicates the number of fields you need to complete, along with forward and backward buttons that help you navigate directly to those fields. And because Acrobat Sign now embeds the PDF on this page, you have some advanced controls and abilities to help you interact with the document. For example, you can select and copy text from the document. On the right side, you can also see options that allow you to search for text within the document, which is especially useful if you need to verify that specific terms are included. You can also use the usual shortcut Ctrl plus F on Windows, or Command plus F on the Mac, to jump into search mode.
Now on the right, you can view thumbnails of the pages in the document, or jump to a specific page by entering the page number right here, and hitting enter. And last, you can quickly scale the document to different magnification levels. To complete the document, simply select any highlighted field to enter the information requested.
All required fields, which are denoted with an asterisk, must be completed before you can submit the document. When you select a simple electronic field, you can choose one of the four ways to apply your signature. You can type, where you enter your name to create a stylized signature. Draw, where you use your mouse, trackpad, or touch screen to draw your signature. You can use an image, where you upload an image of your signature and enter your name. And mobile, where you can enter a mobile phone number to receive a text message link that prompts you to draw your signature on your device.
I’m going to go ahead and just type my signature. You may also see that some fields are automatically populated, such as this date signing field. And once you have completed all the required fields, the blue navigation bar will be replaced with the submit button in the footer. But you can still select any of the fields if you want to make any changes.
When you are happy that all the information entered is complete and correct, simply select the gently pulsing submit button to complete the signing process. After submitting, you are shown a page where you can download a copy of the signed document. A signed copy is emailed to you along with a link to view the signed document and its audit history. And now you’ve successfully signed a document with Acrobat Sign.
