Learn how to edit or delete a template in your library.
Transcript
Let’s take a look at how to make changes to a document template in your library. First, I click on the managed tab so that I can access all of my library templates. Now, an important note is that you’ll only be able to edit or delete templates that you created. So for example, you can see that I don’t have any editing rights for this template and that’s because it was created by another user and shared with me. So let’s go ahead and click edit to make changes to one of my templates. I’m just going to edit the name and add a field that was missing.
Now, if I want to make changes to the access rights of the template, I can do that under properties.
So I click save and now my template has been updated.
Now let’s take a look at how you can delete a template. Now, there are a couple of important points to note when deleting a template. First of all, it’s a permanent action and you won’t be able to retrieve the template after you’ve deleted it. Secondly, if you gave other users access to your template when you first created it, they’ll continue to have access after you delete it unless you remove their access rights before you delete the template. So let’s step through the process in an example. First, I’m going to remove all access rights from this template by clicking edit. Then I click properties and I switch the permissions to only to me. Then I click save. So now I’ve taken away access rights to my template and I can go ahead and delete it from the manage tab. All I have to do is select the template, click the delete icon, and then click the delete button to confirm. Now my template is permanently removed from my library. -
