A deep dive into how redirects work in document authoring and how authors can easily set up redirects with no technical expertise.

Transcript
Let’s talk about redirects. Redirects play a crucial role in website management, ensuring seamless access to content even after relocation or deletion. Edge Delivery provides an effective way to handle redirects through a spreadsheet named redirects or redirects.xls in your project folder. This spreadsheet consists of two columns, source and destination. The source column contains the relative path within your website’s domain, while the destination can be a fully qualified URL for external redirects or a relative path for internal redirects. To ensure accuracy, preview the redirect changes using the Sidekiq feature allowing stakeholders to verify functionality on the .page preview website before publishing to the live site. For detailed instructions on switching between environments, consult the Sidekiq documentation. Keep in mind that redirects take precedence over existing content. If a redirect is defined for a specific URL matching an existing page, Edge Delivery will serve the redirect and hide the original page. Removing a redirect for an existing page will restore the original page unless it has been unpublished.
