Submit a storefront sitemap to Google Search Console
Tell Google where to find your storefront’s sitemap, then check whether it can read the file. A sitemap lists page URLs for search engines to discover.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”- Your storefront must be published on its production domain.
- You need owner permissions for the correct property in Google Search Console .
- Confirm your sitemap URL with your developer. It is usually
/sitemap.xmlon the production domain. For coverage and additional files, see Sitemaps.
Submit the sitemap
Section titled “Submit the sitemap”- Open the confirmed production sitemap URL in a browser and check that it returns an XML sitemap without requiring a login.
- Open Google Search Console and select the property for that production domain.
- Open Sitemaps and enter the confirmed sitemap URL under Add a new sitemap. If the field already shows your site’s URL prefix, enter the remaining path.
- Select Submit.
- Open the submitted sitemap’s row and check its status. If it is not Success, review the reported error with your developer.
- Repeat the submission for any additional sitemap URLs your developer provided.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”The sitemap report should show that Google successfully fetched and processed the file. Check the page-indexing report separately to see which pages have been indexed.
For permissions, status meanings, and troubleshooting, see Google's Sitemaps report documentation .
