Fourth Quarter 2026 release overview
This page provides information about functionality that is included in the Fourth Quarter 2026 release scheduled for October 2026.
The enhancements on this page are available in the Preview environment. This page will be updated with additional enhancements as the Fourth Quarter 2026 release nears its planned Production release.

Note that for the final release of each quarter (26.10 this quarter), users on the fast release schedule will receive the release one day early (October 14, 2026).

Desktop proofing viewer updates
Version 2.2.1
Production release for all customers: September 17, 2026
The Desktop Proofing Viewer has been updated to version 2.2.1. This update includes the following changes:
- You can now open proofs from any environment (Production, Preview, Sandbox, and others) in the same viewer, without reinstalling when you switch.
- Resolved an issue with opening proofs from a URL on non-US regions.
- The viewer now keeps your 10 most recent proofs.
- Updated the Workfront logo to the current branding.
- Added more detail to the About Workfront Proof screen to speed up troubleshooting.
- Updated the underlying framework (Electron) for performance and security improvements.

Deprecation of legacy billing and cost rate fields in job role list views
Over time, we have introduced enhanced rate management capabilities and dedicated Job Role experiences that provide a more complete and scalable approach to maintaining rate information. As a result, rate administration is moving toward these dedicated experiences rather than list-based management workflows.
With the January 2027 release, the legacy fields Billing Per Hour and Cost Per Hour will no longer be available in the Workfront API or in Job Role list views, including Filter / View / Grouping configurations (both direct references and text mode calculated columns).
As a replacement in reports, you can use the recommended Text Mode code (use costRates or billingRates as needed):

To manage and review job role rates, use the dedicated rate management experiences:
- Access and manage job role rates directly from the Job Role > Rates page.
- Use Rate Reports to review, analyze, and report on rate information across job roles.
No action is required to prepare for the change. However, administrators who currently display Billing Per Hour and Cost Per Hour fields in Job Role list views should update their workflows to use the recommended rate management experiences described above.

Password-only authentication for Data Connect reader users ends August 8, 2026
Starting August 8, 2026, Workfront Data Connect / Snowflake reader users who authenticate with a password-only login will stop functioning unless multi-factor authentication (MFA) has been enabled. MFA cannot be added retroactively after this date — if a reader user is allowed to lapse without it, access can only be restored by creating a new user profile.
If you are a Workfront Administrator with Data Connect reader users who have not yet enabled MFA, please notify your users promptly of this change.
This change was first announced in the April 2026 Workfront release notes, and this is the final reminder before the deadline. Please ensure that all affected reader users enable MFA before August 8, 2026 to avoid disruption to their access.
