Introduction to Adobe Workfront Planning as a standalone product

Adobe Workfront Planning is a standalone product from Adobe Workfront. The purpose of Workfront Planning is to unlock comprehensive visibility into the operational details of an organization, and answer critical business questions during the work planning cycle.

Workfront Planning can answer questions like:

How many campaigns are we running in EMEA for Q4?
Do we have any audience overlaps between concurrent campaigns?
How well are the awareness programs doing right now?

To answer these questions, leadership needs a solution that can provide a holistic view of every stage of work planning and ideation.

Adobe Workfront Planning standalone vs Adobe Workfront with Planning

Your organization can purchase Workfront Planning in several ways:

Together with a Workfront Workflow package, with equal numbers of licenses for Workflow and Planning. Users receive access to the full functionality to both Adobe Workfront Workflow and Planning.
Together with a Workfront Workflow package, with different numbers of licenses for Workflow and Planning. Users receive access to the full functionality of Adobe Workfront Workflow and limited access to Workfront Planning.
Workfront Planning by itself, as a standalone product. Users do not receive access to Workfront Workflow features and have full access to the capabilities of Workfront Planning.

Functionality included in Workfront Planning as a standalone product

With Workfront Planning as a standalone product you have access to Planning-only capabilities. Work, resource, and finance management-specific features included in Workfront Workflow are intentionally excluded.

Many of the capabilities included in Workfront Planning as a standalone product are identical to those in Workfront Planning when it is purchased together with a Workfront Workflow package.

Access Workfront Workflow-specific features (legacy reporting, resource management, priorities, budgets, Boards, etc.)
Create connections with Workfront Workflow object types
Create automations for generating Workfront objects
Share data with groups, roles, or companies
Manage Workfront objects other than users and teams
Access Workfront objects other than users and teams
Create Planning Connection fields in Workfront forms
Access Recents, Favorites, Notifications controls in the main navigation toolbar
Access the Workfront profile option from the Adobe Main Menu

Workfront Planning terminology

Workfront Planning comes with proprietary concepts and terminology. Regardless of what Planning package your organization has purchased, the terminology is the same.

Ensure you are familiar with these concepts before embarking on setting up Workfront Planning for your organization.

The framework for Workfront Planning is fully customizable. You can create all record types, their attributes, and any fields associated with them to suit the exact needs of your organization.

Using Workfront Planning as a standalone product

Using Workfront Planning as a standalone product is similar to using it as part of a Workfront with Workflow and Planning package.

The standalone Workfront Planning package includes the same functionality as the integrated version without any connections to Workfront object types and functions.
