In this video, we’ll show you how to create and edit image variants in Adobe Experience Manager Assets Content Hub using Adobe Express. If your organization has Adobe Express entitlements, Content Hub allows you to edit your assets using Adobe Express tools and to create asset variations without ever leaving the Content Hub portal. To follow along, you must have permissions to remix assets to new variations. Check out our video on setting up AEM Assets Content Hub to learn how your administrator can grant you these permissions in the Adobe Admin Console. To begin, log in to the Content Hub portal and open the All Assets tab where you can find all assets currently available in your organization. For our example, let’s say we want to adjust this picture of Alpinists to use it as a social media post for one of our weekend winter campaigns. To do this, you can click the Open in Adobe Express button on the asset card. Alternatively, click the asset card to view its details and hit the Adobe Express logo at the top. This will open the embedded editor for Adobe Express. As you can see, it gives us access to Adobe Express functionality right within the Content Hub portal. You can perform image editing actions that you normally would in Adobe Express. You can crop the image, apply an effect to it, or add some text if you want to. For our example, we’ll simply resize the image. Click Resize in the Quick Actions bar here and select the desired size. Click Resize to confirm. Once we’re done with our adjustments, click Save. We’re prompted to select the file format in which we want to save our asset. You can choose between PNG, which is best for images, JPG, which is great for small file sizes, and PDF, which works best for documents. Let’s save our image as PNG. Now, you need to fill out the asset details. This is the same form you fill in when adding a new asset to Content Hub. These fields define some of the key properties of the asset that will help you and other Content Hub users find it on the portal later. Your administrator can configure what mandatory and optional fields to display when adding assets to Content Hub. We need to specify the asset name to distinguish it from the original, followed by the campaign name. A campaign represents a business use this asset will support. It can be a rebranding project, an advertising campaign, or a specific marketing project. You can select an existing campaign or create a new one. For our example, we want this asset variant to support one of the weekend winter adventures. The rest of the fields in our setup are optional, but it’s best practice to specify values for all fields, as this will make it easier and faster to find the asset on the Content Hub portal. Let’s specify winter as the keyword and select social media as the channel. This campaign will cover the fourth quarter of the year, so we’ll add it as the timeframe. Finally, let’s specify the region. Once done, click Save as New Asset. We can now find our new asset here in the All Assets tab. From here, we can download and use it in our campaign. Note that the changes didn’t affect the original asset, which can still be found in Content Hub. You should now know how to create an asset variant in Content Hub using Adobe Express. We hope that this will help you quickly and easily utilize Adobe Express tools to create new content directly on the Content Hub portal. Thanks for watching!

Edit images using Adobe Express edit-images-using-content-hub

To edit images using Content Hub:

  1. Click Open in Adobe Express available on the asset card of the image that you need to edit. Alternatively, click the image to open its details and then click the Adobe Express logo. The embedded editor for Adobe Express then loads without ever leaving Content Hub.

You can leverage the Adobe Express functionality to perform all image-editing related actions, such as resize image, remove or change background color, crop image, combine the image with AI generated image or text, and much more.

  2. Perform your modifications and click Save to save the edited asset in either of the format types:

    • PNG (used as a good quality image format)
    • JPG (which is suitable for small files)
    • PDF (which is suitable for documents)

    Save image with Adobe Express

  3. Specify a name for the asset in the Save as field.

  4. Specify the campaign name for your asset using the Campaign name field. You can use an existing name or create a new one. The Content Hub provides you with more options as you type the name.

As a best practice, Adobe recommends specifying values in the rest of the fields as well as it creates an enhanced search experience for your uploaded assets.

  5. [Optional] Define values for the Keywords, Channels, Timeframe, and Region fields. Tagging and grouping assets by keywords, channels, and location enables everyone who uses your approved company content to find these assets and keep it organized.

  6. Click Save as new asset to save the asset.

Administrators can also configure the mandatory and optional fields that display while adding assets to Content Hub, such as Campaign name, Keywords, Channels, and so on. For more information, see Configure the Content Hub user interface.
