Copy child nodes to another target node at the same level

Experiences with decision tree targeting only

You can copy all child nodes of a parent target node (including all child targets and the creative bundles assigned to them) to another target node at the same level. You can copy the nodes by either a) adding the copied nodes to the existing framework or b) completely replacing the existing framework.

This feature doesn’t affect the target specified for the parent node — it affects only the child nodes.

Using the AI-driven editor (Beta) ai-editor

While you’re creating or editing the experience, use the canvas controls:

  1. On the parent node whose children you want to copy, click … > Copy Children.

  2. On the destination node at the same level, click …, and then choose one of the following:

    • To add the copied child targets and creatives without removing the existing children, click Add.

    • To replace the existing child targets and creatives with the copied children, click Replace.

An action is disabled when the tree structure doesn’t support it. Review any warning before proceeding.

  3. Review the destination branch, and then save the experience.

Using the manual editor manual-editor

Open the manual editor before following these steps.

  1. Click the parent node whose children you want to copy, click Add , and then either a) select Copy Children ctrl+c or b) enter Ctrl+C (Microsoft Windows) or Command-C (Apple Macintosh) on your keyboard.

  2. Do either of the following:

    • To replace all child nodes and creatives for a node, click the node to which you want to paste the copied information, click …, and then either a) select Replace ctrl+shift+v or b) enter Ctrl+Shift+V (Microsoft Windows) or Command-Shift-V (Apple Macintosh) on your keyboard.

    • (Nodes with multiple child targets, no “All” nodes, and no creatives only) To add all child nodes and creatives to a node, without deleting the existing ones, click the node to which you want to paste the copied information, click …, and either a) select Add ctrl+v or b) enter Ctrl+V (Microsoft Windows) or Command-V (Apple Macintosh) on your keyboard.

Save the experience save

The following steps apply to both editors.

  1. To save the experience, click Save in the decision tree header.

In the AI-driven editor (Beta), wait for the assistant to finish processing before saving.

  2. If a warning indicates that scheduling is incomplete, click OK, correct the schedules so that bundles cover all dates in the ad schedule, and then click Save again.

  3. In the save confirmation dialog, do one of the following:

    • If every final node has assigned creative bundles or uses default creatives, click OK in the Save & Publish dialog to save and publish the tree.

    • If any final nodes don’t have creatives, choose one of the following:

      • Click Save as Draft to save without publishing. You can’t generate an ad tag for a draft experience.

      • Click Assign Default Creatives to use the experience’s default creatives for unassigned nodes. Review the updated tree, and then click Save and OK.

      • Click Continue Edit to return to the tree without saving.
