We are currently redesigning the commenting experience in Adobe Workfront.
Depending on what objects you access the commenting experience for, you might see the following functionality for the Updates section:

The new commenting experience is available only for the Updates section of Workfront objects, and it is not available when you access the objects from the following areas:
When someone replies to a comment or a system update on a work object, their reply appears in the communication thread in the Updates section for the object.
It is not possible to reply to system updates in the new commenting experience. For more information, see New commenting experience.
You must have the following access to perform the steps in this article:

Adobe Workfront license* | Request or higher for issues and documents; Review or higher for all other objects |
Access level configurations* | Requestor or higher for issues and documents; Reviewer or higher for all other objects NOTE If you still don’t have access, ask your Workfront administrator if they set additional restrictions in your access level. You can reply to a comment in the thread of an object that you can view, or you can log in as a Workfront or group administrator and reply to a comment on behalf of another user. For more information, see Log in as another user.
Replying to a comment or reply differs depending on which experience and which object you select.

Go to the object to which you want to add a reply.
Click Updates, then click the Comments tab for the object and find the comment or reply to which you want to reply.
(Optional) To include text from a previous update in your reply, click the More menu in the upper-right corner of the comment you want to reply to, then click Quote reply. Text from the previous update appears in the input area, marked with a vertical gray line.
Click Reply.
You can see the users who are actively engaged in the conversation at the bottom of the Add reply… box and you can add more, or remove the ones that are no longer relevant. These users, along with any users subscribed to the object, receive a notification whenever an update or reply is made on the object. You can also tag more users to include them in your reply. To tag more users, see Tag others on updates.
To add additional replies to an existing reply, you can start typing in the Add reply … box, or click Reply on the original comment. Your reply is added at the end of the thread.
Start typing your reply and use any additional options from the Rich Text toolbar. For information about using Rich Text or other updating capabilities, see Update work.
Click Submit to save the reply.
(Optional) Click the More menu in the upper-right corner of the comment you want to reply to for more options to manage the reply. For more information, see Update work.
Go to the object to which you want to add a reply.
On the Updates tab for the object, find the update or reply to which you want to reply.
(Optional) To view an image in the existing update do one of the following:
Click Reply on the update, then type a reply in the box that appears.

Click Reply to save the reply.
Depending on how your email notifications are configured, you might receive an email notification when an update is made to certain objects to which you have access.
