Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Yahoo! Japan Ads, Yandex, and existing Baidu accounts only

An ad group includes a set of ads and their related keywords. An ad group in a campaign that targets the display network can also include placements, which are locations on the display network in which your ads can appear. Ad group settings, which apply to all components of the ad group, vary by ad network.

You can create ad groups from within Search, Social, & Commerce for a supported campaign type within a synchronized ad network account. You also can edit and change the status of ad groups.

Create an ad group

TIP

To add large amounts of ad group data at once, use the copy and paste feature or campaign bulksheets.

  1. In the main menu, click Search > Campaigns > Campaigns. In the submenus, click Live > Ad Groups.

  2. In the toolbar above the data table, click Create.

  3. Select the ad network, the account, and the campaign, and then click Continue.

  4. Enter the Baidu, Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Yahoo! Japan Ads, or Yandex ad group settings.

Depending on the ad network, the settings may be grouped into Ad Group Details, Budget Options, Ad Group Targeting, and URL Options. To configure settings for Adgroup Frequency Cap Settings, Negative Keywords, Negative Websites, when they’re available, click Add Frequency Cap Settings, Add Negative Keywords, or Add Negative Websites, respectively.

  5. Click Post.

Later, you can optionally override the ad group-level bids by setting bids for individual keywords or placements in the ad group.

Edit ad group settings

You can edit settings for individual ad groups. You can also edit some fields for multiple ad groups at once, including some ad group details, budget options, and URL options that are common to all of the selected campaigns.

TIP

To edit large amounts of data at once, use the copy and paste feature or bulksheets.

  1. In the main menu, click Search > Campaigns > Campaigns. In the submenus, click Live > Ad Groups.

  2. Do either of the following:

    1. (To edit settings for a single ad group) Hold the cursor over the entity name, click Menu icon, and then select Edit.

    2. (To edit settings for one or more ad groups) Do the following:

      • Select the check box next to each ad group.

For tips on selecting multiple rows, see “Select multiple rows.”

      • In the toolbar above the data table, click Edit.

  3. Edit the Baidu, Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Yahoo! Japan Ads, or Yandex ad group settings.

For multiple ad groups, the settings may be grouped into Ad Group Details, Budget Options, Ad Group Targeting, and URL Options, depending on the ad network. You can edit only the fields that are common to all of the selected ad groups, and your changes are applied to all of the selected ad groups. For some alphanumeric fields, you have options to change existing values to a specified value, replace an existing string with a specified string, add a specified prefix to the beginning of each value, or append a suffix to the end of each value. For some monetary fields, you have options to change existing values to a specified value or to either increase or decrease the amount by a specified percentage or monetary amount, with a limit.

For single ad groups, the settings may be grouped into Ad Group Details, Budget Options, Ad Group Targeting, and URL Options. To configure settings for Negative Keywords or Negative Websites, when they’re available, click Add Negative Keywords or Add Negative Websites, respectively.

  4. Save the data:

    • (Single ad groups) Click Post.

    • (Multiple ad groups) Click Post Now.

Change the status of ad groups

You can pause any active search ad group to disable bidding on it. You can later resume bidding by changing the status back to active.

You also can delete any active or paused search ad group. Deleted ad groups are deleted from the ad network. They are still visible, but you can’t change them.

  1. In the main menu, click Search > Campaigns > Campaigns. In the submenus, click Live > Ad Groups.

  2. (Optional) Filter the list to include specific ad groups.

  3. Select the check box next to each ad group whose status you want to change.

For tips on selecting multiple rows, see “Select multiple rows.”

  4. In the toolbar, click the status button:

    • To activate the rows, click Activate.

    • To pause the rows, click Pause.

    • To delete the rows, click More and select Delete. In the confirmation message, click Delete.
