Available functionality for document approvals

There are currently 3 different systems available in Workfront for document approvals:

Legacy document approvals

Legacy document approvals will be removed from Workfront at a future date. The Unified Approvals system has been designed to replace Legacy document approvals.

Key features available for legacy document approvals:

  • Add users as approvers
  • Review and comment in the proofing viewer
  • Create approval reports with legacy reporting
  • Access approval requests in the My Approvals widget in the Home area

Unified Approvals

Unified Approvals is a redesign of the legacy approvals system. Currently available in limited release, it is designed to be a practical and effective solution for businesses requiring comprehensive stakeholder engagement and version-specific document approvals.

Proof approvals

Proof approvals allow you to use basic and automated workflows to manage complex review and approve processes. For more information about proofing, see Proofing.

  • Use legacy reporting to create reports
