Second Quarter 2024 release overview

This page provides information about functionality that is included in the Second Quarter 2024 release. These enhancements were made available in the Production environment for all customers with the 24.4 release on April 10 and 11, 2024.

IMPORTANT
The 23.3 release included the option to move your organization to monthly releases. Therefore, Workfront has changed the numbering scheme of releases to account for both monthly and quarterly release tracks. The first number designates the year, and the second number signifies the month of the release. Example: The release for April, 2024 reads as 24.4.
Monthly and quarterly releases are planned to be available on the Thursday of the second full week of the month, unless otherwise specified.

Adobe Workfront enhancements

Administrator enhancements

Display logic and skip logic are now available in the form designer preview mode

The beta custom form designer now allows you to test your display logic and skip logic in preview mode. Previously, all fields were displayed in the preview even when logic was applied.

Companies and users now support advanced custom form fields

Advanced custom form features such as External Lookup fields and Workfront native fields are now available when you attach a custom form to a company or a user.

  • Production for customers: With the 24.4 release (April 11, 2024)

JumpSeat integration now available for new package types

The existing JumpSeat integration is now available to accounts using one of the new package types (i.e., Select, Prime, or Ultimate). You must still have an active JumpSeat subscription to enable the integration.

Workfront native fields are available in the form designer beta

Fields native to Workfront are now available for you to add to your custom forms. This new field type allows you to organize and present data to your users in a logical way, without having to re-create existing data in custom fields.

Attribute mapping now available for organizations that have migrated to Adobe IMS

Workfront system administrators can now set up user attribute mapping for organization that have migrated to Adobe IMS. This allows user information to pass into Workfront from the organization's SSO (Single Sign-on) provider, so that the user's data does not have to be entered into both Workfront and the SSO provider.

Skip logic and display logic are now available in the form designer beta

You can now edit existing display and skip logic and add new logic to custom forms in the form designer beta. An easy-to-use logic builder helps you define which fields to display or skip based on selections in the form.

Add a deadline to a document reviews and approvals

You can now specify a deadline for users or teams assigned to review or approve a document. Reviewers and approvers receive email notifications 72 hours and then 24 hours before the specified deadline. The deadline is also reflected in the Approvals widget in the new Home area.

Create and use Approval Templates

You can now create Approval Templates in the Setup area to streamline the review and approval process. Approval Templates allow you make the review and approval process more repeatable by

  • Adding reviewers and approvers

  • Setting a timeframe

View information about all your approvals in once place

To help you manage and analyze your approval requests at a glance, we've added the following key performance indicators to the All Approvals widget:

  • Approvals by decision

  • Average approval time

  • Pending approvals

  • Overdue approvals

Column options added to Administrator controls for new Home using layout templates

Administrators can now customize which columns are available for users in specific new Home widgets using layout templates. Options include hiding or displaying default columns and adding existing fields as new columns.

More relevant smart assignments

We have changed the algorithm that Workfront uses to calculate and suggest smart assignments for tasks. The new algorithm applies in the following areas in Workfront where you assign a task: task lists, the Assignments area in the task header, Home, and the Summary panel.

New commenting experiences added to iterations

To give you a consistent experience throughout the application, we have added the new commenting experience to iterations.

Access to the legacy commenting area has been removed

We have removed the "New commenting" toggle in the Updates area for projects, tasks, issues, and documents. The new commenting is now the default and only option for these objects. With this change, you are no longer able to revert back to the legacy commenting experience. Additionally, we have removed the "Show percent complete on update status" setting on a user's profile.

New commenting stream now available in quick actions for new Home widgets

We have now added the new commenting functionality to the "Add new update" quick action button in the My Work, My Projects, My Tasks, and My Issues widgets in new Home.

Additional commenter information available in the new commenting experience

We have made the following enhancements in the new commenting experience:

  • You can click a commenter's name to see their name, role, and email address in an information box. This information can help you identify the correct user, if you have more than one user with the same name. When you click the commenter's name in the information box, their user profile opens.

  • Your user name is highlighted in comments that you are tagged on, when you are mentioned in the comment text.

System Activity tab on the new commenting experience supports read-only comments

Comments made on the system activity records in the legacy commenting experience are now populated on the System Activity tab in the new commenting experience as read-only. You cannot reply to system activity records in the new commenting experience.

New update stream tab to capture both comments and system activity entries

To give you a chronologically cohesive view of both comments and system activity logs, we are introducing a third tab to the Updates area of all objects. The "All" tab captures both user comments and system activity comments in one cohesive stream.
