In this video, we’ll show you how to make the most of Adobe Journey Optimizer’s Live Report feature to monitor and analyze the performance of your journeys and messages in real-time. We’ll explore the dashboard, demonstrate how to customize and export reports, and guide you on interpreting journey-specific metrics to enhance your marketing strategies. The Live Report feature provides real-time visibility into your customer journeys and campaigns. It tracks events from the past 24 hours, updating with just a 2-minute delay, making it perfect for monitoring customer engagement as it happens. Let’s jump right in and see how to access the 24-hour Live Report for a journey. Start by going to the Journeys section of the interface. In the Advanced menu, you’ll find two options. View All-Time Reports, which gives you a detailed, long-term overview of your journey’s performance, and View Last 24 Hours Report, which is what we’ll focus on for real-time insights. You can also access this directly from the Journey Canvas by clicking View Report and clicking Last 24 Hours Report. For this journey, you’ll find three dashboards. The first dashboard, Journey, shows all events and actions, along with the number of people who entered the journey and the paths they took. The second dashboard and third dashboard, Email and SMS, display performance data for the channel activities used in this journey. Now let’s look at another journey and its Live Report to explore additional channels. Here we see the Push Notification channel, offering metrics specific to push messages. You can also filter out any test data using the toggle at the top of the report. Each dashboard features widgets designed specifically for that channel, providing relevant data and insights. Let’s take a closer look at the widgets in the Journey dashboard first. First, we have the Sankey diagram, which visualizes the journey in real-time, showing the flow of users as they move through the different stages of the journey. Next, the Journey Statistics widget displays key performance indicators, or KPIs, that serve as a comprehensive snapshot of your journey’s activity. Here we can see Entered Profiles, which shows how many users reached the journey’s entry point, Exited Profiles, which tracks how many completed or left the journey, Failed Individual Journeys, highlighting journeys that were triggered but didn’t finish successfully, and Profiles who met exit criteria, highlighting profiles who met the journey’s exit criteria and were removed from the journey. The Line graph shows the number of events executed with a breakdown of events received and actions taken. You can click on any line to zoom in and hover over it to see the exact number of actions executed during a specific time period in the last 24 hours. Below, you’ll see detailed visualizations of actions executed, errors, and a table with data breakdowns. Finally, the Error section shows the reasons for any issues, along with the error type for each action. Since there were no errors in this journey, there’s no data displayed here. On the Email dashboard, you can quickly see if your email messages were sent and delivered successfully. After launching your journey, you can simply head to the Email dashboard to check how many messages were sent, delivered, bounced, or encountered errors. Here, you can also track opens and clicks, with breakdowns for hard and soft bounces.
The Line graph will display bounce reasons, error types, and the top recipient domains. Below, you’ll also see a pie chart breaking down the different bounce categories.
Since there were no bounces, no data is displayed. We get a very similar set of metrics for SMS and push notifications, but with push notifications, you’ll also see a breakdown by platform, Apple, and Android.
You can easily customize your reporting dashboard by resizing or removing widgets to fit your needs. These changes are user specific, meaning they will only affect your personal view. Other users will continue to see their own dashboards or the default layout. To adjust a widget, click the Modify button on your dashboard. To resize a widget, hover over the bottom right corner, then click and drag to adjust its size. If you no longer need a widget, simply click the Advanced menu on the widget and select Remove to delete it from your dashboard. You also have the flexibility to adjust how your data is displayed, making it easier to interpret. In Journey Optimizer, switching between different visualizations like bar charts, tables, and donut charts is simple. Just navigate to the widget you want to modify, and in the widget’s toolbar, click the visualization icon. Choose the option that works best for you. Once you select your preferred visualization, the widget will update automatically. Once you’re happy with how everything looks, click Save to lock in your changes.
Exporting reports in Journey Optimizer is quick and easy. You can save your reports as a PDF or CSV file, perfect for sharing or printing. To save as a PDF, click the Export button in the top right corner of the dashboard. From the dropdown, select PDF File. This will open your browser’s print window. In the print dialog, make sure Destination is set to Save as PDF. You can adjust layout, margins, and other settings here, though your options may vary slightly depending on your browser. When you’re ready, click Save, choose a location, and rename the file if needed. Then click Save again. Your report is now saved as a PDF, ready to share, print, or archive.
To download a CSV file, click the Export button again and select CSV File. The file will automatically download and can usually be found in your default downloads folder. You can then open it in Excel or any spreadsheet tool to sort, filter, and analyze your data further. You should now have a better understanding of how to take full advantage of Adobe Journey Optimizer’s live report feature. With Realtime Insights, customizable dashboards, and detailed journey metrics, you’re ready to monitor performance, optimize your marketing strategies, and turn data into actionable results.
