Reusable rules

Hey everyone, here’s a quick demo of the Reusable Rules feature. In Adobe Journey Optimizer, you can target sub-audiences in your campaigns through the use of target rules. For example, if you wanted to send a unique message based on the customer’s region, language preference, or gender. Oftentimes your rules are a combination of multiple attributes in addition to customer behavior events and context data. Reusable Rules saves you significant time as you can create these rules once and then reuse them across campaigns with the ability to quickly modify them inline at the time of authoring. Let’s talk through the setup.

Here within the Decisioning Selection Strategy tab, you will see Rules.

Click here and select Targeting. The Rule Builder will show you all the attributes, events, and context data fields to build your intended audience. Another feature here that might save you significant time is the ability to duplicate your complex and lengthy rules, and from there you can adjust the attributes accordingly. Note that you can filter the inventory by target rules, which are intended to be applied to offer rules. Now let’s open a campaign and talk through the application of this targeting rule in the Campaign Authoring step.

Here I’ll click Create Targeting Rule and I have two options. Either create a new rule or select a rule I had pre-created in that rules inventory we just walked through. This rule looks correct as we just created it moments ago, and let’s say that I want to add one more attribute, such as phone number area code. Please note that any modifications you make to a recreated rule in the inventory will not save your updates from this inline editing back to the rule itself.
