Configure channels

Learn what channel configurations are and how they are used in Adobe Journey Optimizer.

Hello, my name is Robert Calangiu and I will talk about channel configurations, what they are and how they are used in Adobe Journey Optimizer.

Channel configuration is the object that gathers all the needed settings for delivery on a specific channel and allows you to set different access rules or data governance policies for these configs. Before using a channel in Adobe Journey Optimizer, you need to define at least one channel configuration for it. And let me show you how you can create it. If you navigate to Administration Channels, you will see a list of settings and configurations that are needed to be made in order for a channel to function correctly in Adobe Journey Optimizer. To create a new channel configuration, you’ll hit Create Channel Configuration button. You’ll give it a name, something like My Product Page, and then you’ll select the channel. You’ll see the list of all available channels in Adobe Journey Optimizer. And depending on the channel selected, you’ll see different settings.

If I choose Web, I can either enter a page URL, something like myproductpage.mydomain.com, or I can choose a page matching rule if I want to target multiple pages with the same content. In this page matching rule, I can define a rule on domain and path so that I can target multiple pages at once. This is for Web, but if I select a different channel, like in-app messaging, then I will have here different settings. The first thing I would need to select for in-app is the platform or platforms.

If I select iOS and Android, for example, I will need to enter the app IDs for each one of them. Once I enter the app IDs, I can go ahead and save it. If I select email, I’ll see email-specific settings.

If I select SMS, I will see SMS-specific settings and so on. Let’s quickly create one campaign so I can demonstrate how you can use it afterwards.

Let’s say I have this in-app configuration that has iOS and Android. I’ll click submit, and it will be saved and activated in the channel configurations inventory.

You’ll see it here.

Now you can use it in your campaigns and journeys. If I create a campaign and I will select the in-app messaging channel, I will see this newly created configuration.

For each channel you want to use in channels and campaigns, you will need to select a channel configuration.
