I’d like to share with you how you can use the direct mail channel inside of Journeys. Direct mail for Journeys uses new functionality to queue customers during the course of the journey and then sends those customers that need to receive the direct mail on a regularly scheduled interval, the distinct direct mail file. This ensures that only new users are placed in the file. I am going to first show the setup of the direct mail file routing in order to enable this feature in AJO. I am now going to detail out the changes happening in the channel configuration section of Adobe Journey Optimizer to support the direct mail on the journey canvas feature. In order to use the direct mail action on the journey canvas, a new direct mail file routing setting needs to be created. The file routing setting now includes a new field called file routing frequency. In this pull down, you can specify the intervals for when a new file is created and then sent outside of AJO. The options the user can select are every 4 hours, every 8 hours, and every 24 hours. At those intervals, the queued users will be sent as part of the file being transferred. The queue is cleared and any new entrant into the journey will be placed in this queue. The next time the interval comes up, a new file will be sent and the queue cleared again. This will happen until the journey is stopped. If no customers enter the journey between intervals, no file will be created. The customer will now get multiple files each with a different timestamp. The timestamp will be appended to the file name provided in the settings. The timestamp will be a year, month, day, hour, month, and seconds. This will ensure a unique timestamp for each file sent. Note that this new file routing frequency is only applicable when the configuration is used inside of a journey. If the file is used as part of a campaign, then none of the frequency elements are going to be utilized. After the file routing is complete, a new channel configuration for the direct mail channel can be created. From this point, nothing is new here and there are no changes to how you used direct mail feature previously. At this point, I can finish up here and close out in this part of the product. I will switch back to show how this new file routing functionality will enable direct mail to be used inside of journey. Let’s move over and start creating our journey. As usual, you can select an event or audience to kick off your journey. With the feature, all available events are possible to be used with direct mail as we will be queuing up the participants to receive direct mail. In this case, I am going to choose an event and I can use direct mail action anywhere in the journey and use it in conjunction with any other channel or orchestration activity possible on the canvas. Everything else after this is very straightforward. This will look familiar to anybody that has used direct mail in campaigns as all of this is identical. Once you configure the action and define your file, you can now activate your journey and direct mail files will be created and sent based on the frequency that you have chosen. Thank you for watching this overview of how to use direct mail in journeys.
