Environment

Issues/Symptoms

Business teams sometimes need a complete report of content requests for a domain in AEM, aggregated by URL or path, over a defined date range. The report must include every URL accessed, not just the top 1000, the total number of content requests per URL, and the total data volume transferred per URL. This data helps analyze content access patterns and provides complete visibility into site usage.

Resolution resolution

To generate a complete Content Request Logs report by URL, follow these steps:

  1. Identify the domain and the exact date range for the Content Request Logs report.

  2. Access the reporting or logging tools available in your AEM environment. Common options include:

    • AEM built-in log files, such as access.log or request.log
    • Adobe Analytics, if integrated
    • Custom log aggregation solutions, such as Splunk or the ELK stack
  3. Confirm that you have the necessary permissions to access and export log data. Administrative or log access rights are typically required.

  4. Configure your reporting tool to:

    • Filter by the target domain.
    • Specify the required date range.
    • Aggregate data by URL or path.
    • Remove or increase any default cap on the number of URLs included in the report, so the report is not limited to the top 1000 URLs.
  5. Generate the report so that it includes at least the following columns for each URL:

    • URL or path
    • Total number of content requests
    • Total data volume transferred, in MB or GB
  6. Export the report in a suitable format for analysis, such as .xlsx or .csv.

  7. Review the exported report to confirm that it includes all URLs and matches the requested parameters.
