Search facet configurations are separate in the Admin UI and Assets View in AEM as a Cloud Service

This article explains why search filters, also called facets, configured in the Admin UI aren’t automatically reflected in Assets View in AEM as a Cloud Service. To fix this, configure and maintain the search facets separately in each interface, then verify that the required filters appear and work as expected.

Description description

Environment

  • Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service
  • Adobe Experience Manager Assets

Issue/Symptoms

  • Search filters, or facets, allow users to refine asset searches in both the classic Admin UI and modern Assets View.
  • Search filters configured in the Admin UI aren’t automatically applied to Assets View.
  • Search filters configured in Assets View aren’t automatically applied to the Admin UI.
  • The same search filters must be configured independently in both interfaces to provide a consistent user experience.

Cause

The Admin UI and Assets View use separate configuration frameworks for search facets. A change made in one interface doesn’t update the configuration in the other interface.

Resolution resolution

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

  1. In the Admin UI, navigate to Tools > General > Search Forms > Assets Admin Search Rail.
  2. Add, modify, or remove the required search facets in the Assets Admin Search Rail. Verify that the changes are stored in the configuration and reflected in the Admin UI.
  3. In Assets View, navigate to Settings > General Settings > Search.
  4. Use the filter configuration options in Assets View to add, modify, or remove the required search facets.
  5. Repeat the configuration changes in both interfaces if you want the same search facets to be available in the Admin UI and Assets View.
  6. Search for assets in each interface and verify that the required facets appear and work as expected.
