Disable AI features in Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service Assets
This article explains how to disable AI-powered features in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) as a Cloud Service Assets production environment, including AI Assistant, Smart Tag Enhancements, and AI Search, to help meet compliance requirements.

Organizations may need to temporarily disable AI-powered features in AEM Assets Production environments while pursuing internal compliance approvals. By default, features such as AI Assistant, Smart Tag Enhancements (AI-generated titles, descriptions, and keywords), and AI Search may be enabled. Customers often want to disable these features in Production while keeping them active in lower environments for testing and validation.
Environment
- Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS) (all versions)
Symptoms
- AI Assistant is visible in the top navigation.
- AI-generated titles, descriptions, and keywords are automatically applied to newly uploaded assets.
- AI Search is enabled in the Assets search interface.
Cause
AI-powered features are enabled by default in AEM Assets. Disabling them for compliance or business reasons requires configuration changes in the AEM UI. Some features may require Adobe intervention to fully disable.
Resolution resolution
Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

Disable Smart Tag Enhancements (AI-generated metadata) in Production:

Log in to your AEM Production environment.

Navigate to Tools
>Assets>Assets Configurations>Smart Tag Enhancement Configuration. -
Select Disable Smart Tag Enhancements.

Click Save.

After this change, newly uploaded assets won’t receive AI-generated titles, descriptions, or keywords. Existing assets with AI-generated metadata will retain those fields until manually edited or cleared.

Disable AI Search in Production:

In your AEM production environment, go to Tools
>Assets>Assets Configurations>Assets Omnisearch Configuration>Search. -
Switch from AI Search to Keyword in the Admin view.

Click Save to apply the change.

Disable AI Assistant in Production:
- The AI Assistant feature may require Adobe intervention to be fully disabled at the environment level. If the AI Assistant remains visible in the top navigation after performing the above steps, contact your Adobe representative for assistance.
Verification:
- Confirm that newly uploaded assets don’t receive AI-generated metadata.
- Confirm that the search interface uses keyword search instead of AI Search.
- Confirm that the AI Assistant is no longer visible in the top navigation (if applicable).
