Image preview not working after JWT to OAuth migration in AEM
Last update: February 14, 2025
If image previews are not loading in your development environment after migrating from JWT token authentication to OAuth for Smart Content in AEM, the issue is related to user permissions. Ensuring that the user associated with Dynamic Media has the correct admin privileges will resolve this problem.
Description
Environment
Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Managed Services Support, version 6.5, applicable to both production and development environments within Cloud Manager
Issue/Symptoms
After migrating from JWT token authentication to OAuth for Smart Content in Adobe Experience Manager, image previews do not load properly in the development environment. This issue occurs after the JWT token is deleted as part of the migration process.
Resolution
- Check if the user associated with Dynamic Media has admin privileges. In Dynamic Media, a user must be designated as a DM (SPS) Company Admin to perform operations such as fetching secure IS authentication tokens. Refer to Administration setup in Adobe Dynamic Media Classic for more details.
- If necessary, change the user’s role from user to admin within your company’s administration settings. Engage your company admins if you do not have permission to update these settings yourself.
- Once permissions are updated, verify that image previews function correctly in both development and QA environments before proceeding with any additional changes or deletions related to tokens.
