This refers to when multiple senders utilize the same IP addresses to launch email campaigns. They all share the same sending IPs.

A user-specific IP address that only one sender sends from.

Pros and Cons of a Dedicated IP
Pros
Reputation - You wholly own your reputation and deliverability.
Monitoring - Monitoring your deliverability reporting enables you to respond quickly to changes in your delivery metrics.
Issue resolution - It’s easier to research, understand, and resolve delivery issues.
Cons
Volume changes - Spikes in volume can negatively affect your reputation and need to be managed.
IP warm-up process - Reputation is is built over time. Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) throttle IP addresses with no volume history, so you will have to build a reputation over the first few weeks (Marketo can help guide you).
Cost - There is usually an additional charge to send from a Dedicated IP with any provider.
Pros and Cons of a Shared IP
Pros
Good roommates - If the folks you’re sharing your IP with follow best sending practices, you would benefit.
Mailing frequency - There is no minimum mailing frequency needed to qualify for a shared IP, unlike with Dedicated IPs.
Cost - There is never an additional charge to send from a Shared IP.
Cons
Bad roommates - If the folks you’re sharing your IP with engage in poor sending practices, your email campaigns could be adversely affected.
Control - You have much less control over your sender reputation.
Issue Resolution - It can often be more difficult to resolve an issue when sending from Shared IPs.
