Use contextual event information for personalization

Personalizing your marketing messages in Journey Optimizer allows your team to effectively tailor content to individual preferences, creating an enhanced customer experience and empowering your team to work more efficiently. Context-based personalization, factors and elements like location, device, past interactions, and real-time data guarantee that your messages are not just customized, but also timely and contextually relevant. By the end of this video, you should be able to use contextual event information for personalization. In Journey Optimizer, I want to create a transactional message for people who have purchased from our store. You’ll see that I’ve already added personalization in the form of the customer’s first name. Below, you’ll see that I also have an area where I want to include information about the product they’ve bought. Clicking on the Edit Personalization button, I’ll select contextual attributes from the Personalization side menu on the left. From here, I can browse the events or the journey properties to find what I want. Or, I could simply use the search box. The first item that I want to personalize is the order type, so I’ll type order in the search box. I’ll go ahead and add that in. Next, I’m going to put in the order number and the price total. Once this is finished, I’ll click Save. Now, these contextual attributes will be passed in the payload for the event that triggers the journey. To test your personalization, you can simulate content. I’m now going to navigate back to my journey. Next, I would want to put the journey into test mode, however you can see that I have some alerts. If you click the alert sign, you can see what is needed for you to test your journey. I’ll go ahead and add a subject line for my email. And now, I would be able to test my journey. I’ll toggle the Test control to enable test mode and trigger an event. And I’ll fill in some details about the back-end stock item. Once I trigger the journey, I should see green arrows indicating that my test is a success. Now let’s take a look at the email I just received. You can see the name personalization, and down below, I can see that the product information that I passed from the event is now inside the message. You should now be able to use contextual information for personalization.
