Hello, my name is Don Wynn. I’m a product manager for Adobe Journey Optimizer. This video will show you how to Author an In-app message, using the in-line authoring feature available to all AGO messaging channels. To follow along with this tutorial, you’ll need to be pre-configured and enabled for in-app messaging on Adobe Journey Optimizer. Please check with your admin or refer to the additional resources available, if you have any questions. In this video, you’ll learn how to Author an In-app message. To do this, I will walk you through the various options that are available while we build out a sample message. Now, let’s begin. From an in-app message, click the edit content button, this will take you to the In-line authoring construct. As mentioned before, this is an In-line authoring experience that you’ll see across all messaging channels found in AGO. To help simplify the authoring process, we provided you with a few different template styles to get started. Full screen, modal and banner styles. For custom HTML messages, you can use the composer feature or import a pre-made HTML message as well.
The content tab provides the main options to compose a message to your customers. The first section gives you a few different styles for the close button to your message. The media section gives you the ability to easily drop in media content. This can be done by either using a link to targeted media content pieces or because AGO is built on Adobe’s Experience Platform, you can also access the asset selector, where your entire team can pick through previously created content to maintain a seamless look and feel. The content section is where you’ll add your header, and body messaging.
Clicking the button on the right will open up the personalization dialogue that will help you select profile attributes that will later be substituted to help you create unique experiences for your users. The button section of the authoring experience is where you will design your call to action buttons. Again, AGO gives you the option to add custom labels, interaction events, and targets. You also have the ability to create multiple buttons, and also customize the layouts in which they are arranged.
Hitting the settings tab will give you options to select a preview image when messages are sent to a phone summary screen, and an option to change the background behind the modal message. Both of these options also allow you to select a solid color, if you would prefer to do that over an image. You can access additional message functionality options while on the settings tab by clicking the advanced formatting slider, in the top right corner. By doing this, you’re given additional options, like custom gestures, UI takeover options, the ability to change the size of your modal message, the ability to move around the positioning of your message, animations when your message pops up or closes, and even the ability to change the roundness of the message corners. Then with the advanced settings options still turned on, and flipping over to the content tab, you’ll now see that you have the options to fully customize your text. You can change the font, point size, color, and alignment for any of the text that you added in your message.
We provide you with two different ways to preview and proof that your message will be presented to your users as intended. The first option is the Simulate Content feature. This feature allows you to select a test profile, that will be used as a sample target profile. Profile attributes from the test profile will then be substituted with the previously identified personalization tokens in your message and will be previewed on the right.
The next option is the Preview On Device feature. This option gives you a simple interface that will connect a test mobile device to assurance. AGO Self-Serve feature that allows users to easily inspect, validate, and debug app data collection, and experiences for AGO.
Once your test mobile device is connected, a preview of the message will trigger on that mobile device, giving you the ability to see how the message actually looks on that device. For example, this can be repeated on different device models and device types, so you can see how it’ll look on a larger Android device, versus a smaller iOS device.
