Experience Platform documentation overview


Adobe Experience Platform documentation has recently moved. Please take a moment to review the new navigation and to update any existing bookmarks.

Adobe Experience Platform documentation is provided in multiple formats, including overviews, tutorials, and guides for both the user interface and API. Here is a brief description of the most common documentation types that are available for Experience Platform services:

  • API reference: Consult the API reference documentation for each service to learn details about available endpoints, including headers, parameters, sample requests, and responses. These reference materials do not provide the same level of detail as the documentation. It is recommended to consult the service-specific developer guide for detailed API usage examples.

  • Developer guide: Each developer guide provides in-depth usage information for all API endpoints available for a specific service. The guide includes available query parameters, sample requests, and sample responses, as well as outlining “gotchas” to avoid when making calls to Platform APIs.

  • Overview: An overview provides a high-level outline of the service or feature and how it interacts with other Platform services. The overview is the best place to start when learning about new features and functionality within Platform.

  • Troubleshooting guide: Use the troubleshooting guide to find answers to frequently asked questions and information regarding error messages that you are likely to encounter when using the API. The Experience Platform troubleshooting guide provides support for general questions and errors, while individual services provide troubleshooting guides specific to their area.

  • Tutorial: A tutorial is a step-by-step guide through the UI, API, or a mix of both, that leads to a specific outcome. Unlike a developer guide, an API tutorial may only focus on one or two endpoints and is not an exhaustive API resource. Similarly, UI tutorials may focus only on specific steps, not the complete user interface available for that service. Tutorials are often part of a larger workflow and feature “next steps” that describe which tutorials you may want to try next.

  • UI guide: A UI guide outlines actions available in the Platform user interface for a specific service. These documents contain screenshots and steps focused on interacting with Platform through the UI. Similar to a developer guide, the UI guide outlines all available actions and options including “gotchas” to avoid. This is the most detailed resource for working with the UI.

Documentation is currently available for the Adobe Experience Platform services and features listed below. You can learn more about the services through the brief descriptions provided here, and gain a deeper understanding by selecting from the alphabetical list in the left navigation.

  • Access control: Experience Platform leverages product profiles in Adobe Admin Console, which link users with permissions and sandboxes.
  • Auditor: Auditor grades your Adobe Experience Cloud implementation and gives pointers on how to improve it. Auditor helps you get more value from your Adobe products, individually and collectively.
  • Catalog & Datasets: Manages the metadata for the datasets created in the tenant, data lineage, and policies associated with them.
  • Data Access: Provides access to the content of registered datasets for data export.
  • Data Governance: Adobe Experience Platform brings data from multiple enterprise systems together to better allow marketers to identify, understand, and engage customers. Experience Platform includes end-to-end Data Governance infrastructure to ensure the proper use of data within Platform and when being shared between systems.
  • Data Ingestion (Batch & Streaming): Bring data into Adobe Experience Platform using batch ingestion, streaming ingestion, and source connectors.
  • Data Science Workspace: Data Science Workspace offers predefined machine learning models you can use in your own solutions as well as the capability to create your own models.
  • Debugger: The Adobe Experience Cloud Debugger extension for Chrome examines your web pages and helps you find problems with how your Experience Cloud solutions are implemented.
  • Destinations: Destinations are pre-built integrations with commonly used applications that allow for the seamless activation of data from Real-time Customer Data Platform. You can use Destinations to activate your known and unknown data for cross-channel marketing campaigns, email campaigns, targeted advertising, and many other use cases.
  • ETL (Extract, Transform, Load): Create high performance connectors for data integration tools for integration with Adobe Experience Platform.
  • Experience Platform Launch: Experience Platform Launch provides a simple way to deploy and manage all of the analytics, marketing, and advertising tags necessary to power personalized, relevant, real-time experience for your customers.
  • Experience Platform Web SDK (Beta): The Adobe Experience Platform Web SDK client-side JavaScript library allows customers of the Adobe Experience Cloud to interact with the various services in the Experience Cloud.
  • Identity Service: Gain a better understanding of your customers by bridging identities from multiple devices and behaviors across channels to form a single view of each individual customer.
  • Intelligent Services: Empower marketers and marketing analysts to leverage the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning in delivering customer experiences.
  • Observability Insights: Expose key observability metrics in Adobe Experience Platform, providing insights into usage statistics, historical trends, and performance indicators for various Platform functionalities.
  • Privacy Service: Privacy Service provides a RESTful API and user interface that allow you to make data access and delete requests that comply with privacy regulations.
  • Profile (Real-time Customer Profile): See a holistic view of each individual customer by combining data from multiple channels, including online, offline, CRM, and third party data into Real-time Customer Profiles.
  • Query Service: Use SQL queries to retrieve data from Adobe Experience Platform, such as Adobe solution data, customer 1st party data, or any other Platform data.
  • Real-time Customer Data Platform: Real-time CDP combines multiple enterprise data sources to create unified profiles in real time that can be used to provide one-to-one personalized customer experiences across all channels and devices.
  • Sandboxes: Sandboxes partition a single Platform instance into separate virtual environments to help develop and evolve digital experience applications.
  • Schemas: Driven by Adobe, Experience Data Model (XDM) is an effort to standardize customer experience data and define schemas for customer experience management. XDM schemas support the interoperability of data across Experience Platform components.
  • Segmentation: Create segments based on Real-time Customer Profile data to generate audiences and power consumer experiences.
  • Sources (Connections): {#sources} Bring data into Adobe Experience Platform from a variety of sources such as Adobe applications, cloud-based storage, databases, and more.
