2019.1 release activity overview
This page provides information about the functionality included in the 2019.1 release.
The 2019.1 release contains enhancements both for administrators and other users.
Enhancements for Administrators

Restore Templates from the Recycle Bin
Workfront administrators can now restore templates from the Recycle Bin.

Show Timestamps for Date Fields in Home
Workfront administrators can now choose to show or hide timestamps for due dates in the Work List and Calendar using Layout Templates.

Configure Default Proofing Role for Non-Recipients Who Open a Proof
Workfront administrators can now configure the default proofing role for users who are not designated recipients in the proof’s workflow, but who have access to the proof via its Workfront object (such as project, task, or issue).

All Duration Types Available under Project Preferences
When setting the default task and issue duration type in the Project Preferences area in Setup, Workfront administrators can use the Simple, Effort Driven, Calculated Assignment, and Calculated Work options.

Project Enhancements

See the information you need by filtering the Kanban or Scrum board either by individual user or by team.

Add Tasks and Issues from a List to an Iteration
You can now use a task or issue list, a report, or a dashboard to add stories to an iteration. You can also have multiple teams assigned stories in one iteration.

New Paper Sizes for Gantt Chart Export
You can now print the Gantt chart on A1 and A2 paper sizes.

Removed Access to Dialog Boxes in the Gantt Chart While in Edit Mode
You can no longer access the Advanced Assignments dialog box while the Gantt chart is in edit mode. You can make only inline edits while the Task list Gantt Chart is in edit mode.

View Task Information in the Project List Gantt Chart in a Program or Portfolio
You can now view information about a project’s tasks in the Project List Gantt Chart within a Program or Portfolio.

Access the Task List Gantt Chart on Templates
You can now access the Task List Gantt Chart within a project template.

Renamed the Project View on the Gantt Chart
We renamed the “Project” view option on the Gantt chart to “Fit All.”

What-If Scenarios in the Task List Gantt Chart
You can now perform various actions on the tasks in a project when they display in the edit mode of the Gantt chart.

The newly redesigned task lists have been re-enabled, after a brief removal during the 18.3 beta 4 release. Various additional features are also now available.

When a list of projects or tasks is larger than the size of your screen, the list now automatically displays in the entire browser window as you scroll.

We have enhanced the performance and improved the look and feel of the project and task lists in additional areas.

Send a Delivered Report in XLSX Format
You can now schedule a report to be delivered in MS Excel (.xlsx) format, in addition to all the other current formats.

You can now export audit log entries to a CSV file. You can export up to 50,000 audit log entries to a CSV file at one time.

The WBS View on a Task List Is No Longer Available by Right-clicking the Task Number Column
You no longer can right-click the Task Number column in a task list to show the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) of the project.
Resource Management Enhancements

Updated Default Filter in the Resource Planner
The default filter in the Resource Planner no longer filters by the Group of the Project.

Using Wildcards for Resource Planner Filters
You can now use wildcards when building filters in the Resource Planner.

Support for Date-Based Wildcard Filter Variables in the Resource Planner
You can now use any version of the $$TODAY wildcard filter variable when you build a filter in the Resource Planner.

Export Options for the Role View in the Resource Planner
You can now select which levels of information to export from the Resource Planner in the Role view.

Data Formatting Options for Exporting the Resource Planner
You can now select how you want to display information in the Excel file when exported from the Resource Planner.

Persistent Scheduling Timeline
Scheduling timelines now keep the timeframe and the filter when you refresh the timeline or navigate away from the page.

New Export Options in the Resource Planner
You can now select which levels of information to export from the Resource Planner.

Update to the User View in the Resource Planner
When you do not apply any user-based filters to the Resource Planner, all users in the system now display in the User View of the Resource Planner.
Proofing Enhancements

Proof Interactive Content in the Web proofing viewer
If your organization’s security policies do not allow use the standalone Desktop Proofing Viewer app, your Workfront administrator can now enable interactive content in the Web Proofing Viewer.

Default Sorting Order for Comments in the proofing viewer is Now Oldest to Latest
In the proofing viewer, the default sorting order for comments on a proof is now Oldest to Latest, as in a verbal conversation.

Enhanced Reviewing for Comments in the proofing viewer Associated with a Range of Video
When you are reviewing a comment associated with a range of video footage in the proofing viewer, you can now click Play to view the entire range of footage.

Link to Document Details From a Proof Notification or the proofing viewer
When you receive an email inviting you to review a proof or you are reviewing a proof in the proofing viewer, you can now quickly access the Document details page for the proof.

Change Your Email Notifications in the proofing viewer
Now all proofing reviewers can specify which proof notifications they want to receive for a proof. This is particularly important when collaborating with external stakeholders.

Change the Background Color in the Desktop Proofing Viewer
Now you can change the background color of the Desktop Proofing Viewer from the default near-black color to white.

Clear Cached Browser Data from a Proof
Now you can clear the browser cache data that might be saved with a proof so that all content appears in the Desktop Proofing Viewer and reviewers can see and comment on it.
Mobile Enhancements

Searching for items in the Workfront mobile app is now more user-friendly and intuitive.

Home Is the New Default Landing Page on the Workfront Mobile Apps
The Home area is now the new default landing page for the Workfront mobile apps. This is supported for both iOS and Android devices.

New Options for Organizing Lists in the Workfront Mobile App
You can now filter, sort, and order your lists in the Workfront mobile app.

Support for Workfront Beta App for iOS Devices
You can now enroll to be a beta tester for the Workfront mobile app from an iOS device.

Simple Task Creation for Android Beta
You can now create tasks directly from a project, a task, or from the Home area for the beta version of the Android mobile app.

New First-Time Tutorial for the Workfront Mobile App for Android Devices
The look and feel of the tutorial that displays the first time you access the Workfront mobile app on an Android device has been updated.
Third-Party App Integration Enhancements

Workfront for Slack Improvements
Various updates are now available in Workfront for Slack, including the ability to post a comment you made in Slack as a comment on an object in Workfront, subscribe to be notified in Slack when someone makes a comment on one of your requests, and more.

Workfront for Jira Enhancements
The Workfront for Jira integration now contains the various enhancements, including an indication when the integration automatically creates a user in Jira, an option to disable the automatic Workfront user creation, and more.
Announcements
API Version 4 No Longer Supported
Support for API version 4 is ending in conjunction with the 2019.1 release. For more information about the support schedule for versions of the Workfront API, see API versioning and support schedule.
Agile Tool Updates
The following updates for the Agile tool were made available directly to the Production environment on December 13, 2018:
- Filter and Group items on the Kanban backlog tab
- View parent information for tasks and issues on an iteration
API Version 10 Now Available in Preview api-version-10-now-available-in-preview
API version 10 is now available in the Preview environment. It will be made available in the Production environment with the 18.3 release. For more information, see What’s New in API Version 10.
Various Single Sign-On Options to Be Removed various-single-sign-on-options-to-be-removed
The following Single Sign-On (SSO) options are now supported only in a limited capacity; they will be removed from the product in the second half of 2019:

LDAP

SAML 1.1
