Milestones and milestone paths

You can associate the key tasks in a project with predefined milestones. This function can provide managers and other stakeholders with a high-level overview as to how a project is progressing.

The sum of all the predefined milestones is called a milestone path.

The first step in building a milestone path is identifying what the milestone steps are and establishing the milestones. Because you can associate a milestone path to multiple projects, the milestone steps must be general phases or stages of any project.

For more information on how you can associate a milestone path with a project and a milestone with a task, see Associate milestones with tasks.

Choose a color to associate with your milestone.

  8. (Optional) Drag and drop each milestone to reorder them.

  9. Click Create Milestone Path to save your changes.

Your milestone path is ready to be associated with a project.

For more information on how to associate milestone paths to projects and milestones to tasks, see Associate milestones with tasks.

  10. (Optional) From the Milestone Paths list, select one milestone, then click the Edit icon Edit icon to open the milestone path and edit its information.

  11. (Optional) Click the Export icon Export icon , then select from the following formats to export the milestone path list to a file:

  13. Click Yes, Delete it.

The milestone is deleted and cannot be recovered. The milestone path is removed from any project previously associated with it and all milestones are removed from the tasks associated with them.
