Hey everybody, it’s Doug. In this video I want to show you how to create a federated audience composition once you have already connected to your database. As a reminder, this will allow us to create a query that will reach into the database, the preselected data warehouse of yours, and do that query without bringing all of the data into the platform. So once you go into the platform interface, on the left navigation, under the customer section, select audiences. Toward the top you will see some tabs that you can select, including overview, browse, etc. Select federated compositions. Then in the top right, click create composition. You will then be prompted for a name for your new composition. We’ll keep it simple for this demo walkthrough and we’ll choose LA residents with email and click create. You will be presented with a new canvas. Click on the circle with a plus in the middle to add to the canvas and then build audience. A new box will be added to the canvas to create an audience. A new dialogue will pop out on the right side and allow you to rename that step if you want to. At this point, choose a schema to start building your audience. Select the icon to go find your schema. You are presented with your list of schemas. Select the one that you want to use for this step in creating your audience. In our example, we’re looking for the city of the person in the database, so we’re going to select our TJO profiles schema and click confirm. Now that you have selected your schema, click continue. This takes you into the query canvas where you can click the plus and select custom condition. This brings up a screen where you can see that the profile schema was chosen in the previous step and now you are choosing a field. In this case, since again we’re looking for people from Los Angeles, we will choose city. You also have an option at the bottom to edit the expression which will take you into an interface where you can use the functions that we enabled in one of our very first steps of connecting to the database, which is in a different video, but that’s where we connected to your data warehouse. But we’ll click confirm here to move on. Now do the same thing with another branch on the canvas, clicking the plus sign and selecting custom condition again. This time find and select email and confirm. Now we have the city as well as email on the canvas and we just need to choose the right operator for the email field. In this case, we will choose is not empty to make sure that we will only include profiles for which we have an email address. We can also click the calculate button to see how many profiles we will have in this audience. We then choose confirm to move forward. We have now created a simple federated audience composition. The result shows in the main window and you can edit, check and update settings, or even fit to window as I’ve done here. Then click start to start the composition. You will see the number of profiles as well as how long it took to perform the query. You can also add activities by clicking the plus sign. This will allow you to split the audience, combine or enrich audiences and other activities. You will be able to stop, resume, restart, etc. Now when you go back to the list of federated compositions, you can see yours in the This of course was just one example out of so many things that you could do to create a federated audience composition. Again, based on the data that you have in your data warehouse and what data you have enabled to come into federated audience composition to query. You’ll also be able to use this federated audience in your Adobe Experience platform audience interface to combine it with real-time behavior and to activate destinations in order to create in-the-moment experiences. Good luck and have a great day.
