Adobe Marketo Engage allows you to create personalized marketing assets like emails, landing pages, and forms for your marketing campaigns.

Emails are marketing assets created and used within Marketo Engage for marketing automation, lead nurturing, and campaign execution. Emails are a cornerstone of digital marketing strategies in Marketo Engage, enabling businesses to deliver targeted and measurable communication to leads and customers. Today we’ll learn how to create, personalize, and test an email in a program. In this video, you will learn how to create an email using a template, edit and personalize an email, preview and test an email, approve an email for use, and publish an email to your product. In this example, the goal of our program is to inform customers about a new product launch. Customers will receive an email that includes a link to a landing page with a contact form to submit their product inquiries.

In this video, we’ll walk through how to create the email.

To begin, navigate to a previously configured email program. To create a new email, locate the email subfolder in the program’s assets folder and right-click. Select New Local Asset, Email. Note, you have the option of cloning, moving, or creating new emails for your initiatives. Next, choose a template from the template picker that fits your design needs. Emails in Marketo are built on out-of-the-box, or custom, HTML templates. This allows for customization and consistent rendering across email clients. Name your email with best practice conventions. Standardization helps with organization, reporting, and the scaling of your initiatives.

Once inside the email editor, you will see drag-and-drop modules that allow you to adjust the layout of your email.

Different templates have different modules and editability. You can edit text, images, and links for your communication.

Images like logos and banners can be uploaded and housed in the design studio. Text can be styled and adjusted for your brand, both in the template and in the editor. You can also personalize your email using tokens. Tokens bring in lead or person-level details like name, company, and job title.

For example, to add a token, place your cursor in a text block and select Insert Token, Lead, First Name.

When a customer opens the email, they will see their first name in the copy. You can also add a link to a Marketo landing page or external website with a form so they can inquire for more info. Make sure to review the text version of your email and adjust as needed to optimize deliverability and rendering for all audiences.

Once your email is complete, click Preview.

Review how your email will look on different devices and for audience members. Send a test of the email to yourself and your colleagues to review before deployment. Select an example person from your intended audience to view how your tokens will render for different audience members. When you are done editing, approve your email for use. It can be edited and re-approved as needed.

Emails can be cloned and updated for future initiatives. In this video, you learned how to create an email using a template, edited and personalized an email, previewed and tested an email, approved an email for use.
