So first off, we will start by clicking the database tab. Inside of the database you will have options for all of your different workspaces. For this example, go ahead and select the default workspace. Then select System Smart Lists underneath. Inside of the System Smart Lists folder you will have different options. For our use case purposes, go ahead and select the possible duplicates smart list. Inside of the possible duplicates, go ahead and select People. This will show you all of the possible duplicates that Marketo thinks are duplicates in your system based off of the email address field. For this example, I am going to make it abundantly clear that there is going to be a match of Chris Kelly. For this example, I am trying to show that there is in fact at least two people named Chris Kelly. As best practice, always speak to your CRM admin to ensure that you are following accepted merger protocols. For example, if you attempt to merge a contact record and a lead record, most CRMs will not allow that merger. Once you have selected both versions, go ahead and hit Merge People. This will bring up the merge person modal. Inside you will see all of the different possible duplicates at the top. In this case there is only two, so person1 and person2. There may be more. You will also see the different fields that are capable of being merged together. In this case you see company name is different from person1 and person2. Has active projects, photo URL, and record type ID. The other fields are the same, so it is showing you just the differences. From here you can choose which fields you want from each person. In this case I am choosing to add person2 to person1 on the Has Active Project field. Once you have made your selections, go ahead and select the Merge button. And that will merge all of your records together, including activities.
