When your MarketoEngage instance has thousands of duplicate records and you have not-so-sensitive data to process individually, you might want to consider more of a bulk-merge process. In this scenario, exporting the system smartlists inside of your database, the possible duplicate smartlist, exporting that list to Excel, and reimporting it as an altered list after editing it inside of Excel as a list upload is another way to go. This is great for you Excel wizards out there and if you don’t need activity merged as well, you will lose the activity list. You can also upload the possible duplicates list to other tools like an SQL database and run queries against it to update your data in bulk. This option still has a little bit of a manual side, but the editing process is much faster and you will have access to all of the Excel libraries and extensions such as ChatGPT. Please note that we are not legal experts. We do not say to do this. Always check with your legal team about compliance and keeping everything on board to help accelerate this whole process. Since you are uploading a list of updated leads via the list update, edits will attach to the most recently updated records inside of Marketo.
