Participate in a breakout session
During a Live Hub session, your Instructor can split the session into smaller breakout rooms for focused discussion and hands-on activities.
When a breakout session starts, you are automatically moved to your assigned room, where you can collaborate with your group, follow the activity instructions, and ask for help when you need it. After the session ends, you can view an AI-generated summary of the discussion that took place in your breakout room. This guide walks through what to expect and what you can do as a Learner during a breakout session.
Join your breakout room
When your Instructor starts a breakout session, you are automatically moved from the main room to your assigned breakout room. You don’t need to do anything to join. The top of the screen shows the session name and your room, along with a countdown timer that shows how much time remains in the activity.

View the activity instructions
Your Instructor sets an activity or discussion prompt for the breakout. The Breakouts panel on the right shows the session status (In progress), your room, and the session duration.
To view the activity prompt:
-
If the Breakouts panel is closed, select the Breakouts (grid) icon at the bottom-right of the screen.
-
Select Instructions to expand the activity prompt, for example, “What types of data can be stored and unified in a Data Cloud?”
Refer to these instructions throughout the breakout to keep your
discussion aligned with the activity.
Collaborate with your group
Inside your breakout room, you can work with the other learners in the room using the tools on the control bar:
-
Microphone: Mute or unmute yourself to speak with your group.
-
Camera: Turn your video on or off.
-
Reactions: Send a quick emoji reaction.
-
Raise hand: Signal that you’d like to speak or draw attention.
-
Share screen: Share your screen or a presentation with the room.
-
Chat: Opens the chat panel to message others in your room.
-
Attendees: See who is in your breakout room.
Only the users in your room can see and hear you, so you can discuss freely without interrupting the other breakout rooms.
Receive messages from your Instructor
Your Instructor can send a broadcast message to every room at once, for example, an activity reminder or a time check. When they do, the message appears on your screen. Read the message, then close it to return to your activity.

Ask for help
If your group has a question or needs the Instructor to join your room, select Ask for help at the top of the breakout room. This notifies the Instructor, who can then join your room to assist. You can continue your discussion while you wait for the Instructor to respond.
The Ask for help option is used to request the Instructor’s assistance
After you send a request, the button changes to Cancel call for help. If you no longer need assistance, for example, your group has resolved the question on its own, select Cancel call for help to withdraw the request.

Return to the main room
The breakout session runs for the duration shown on the timer, and your Instructor may extend it if needed. When the session ends, either when the timer runs out or when the Instructor ends it early, you are moved back to the main room automatically to continue the session with everyone.
View your room summary
After a breakout session ends, you can view an AI-generated summary of the conversation that took place in your room. The summary includes the key points your group discussed.
A summary is generated only if the breakout room has at least 60 seconds of conversation. If the room activity is shorter than 60 seconds, no summary is available.
If your Instructor moves you to a different room during the same breakout session, for example, from Room A to Room B, only the summary for your most recent room is shown. Summaries from rooms you were previously in are not retained.
To view your room summary:
-
Select
from the control bar.
The breakouts panel appears. -
Navigate to the breakout session card for which you want to view the summary.
-
Select the breakout session, and then select Summary.
