Create Reusable Interactive Communication Fragments

Learn how to develop reusable fragments for interactive communication documents. Optimize layouts and ensure dynamic data binding for customer address and letter body sections. Enhance document design with formatting, positioning, and margin controls.

Transcript

A fragment was created to hold the customer address details. Fragments in interactive communication are reusable components that allow common sections of a document to be maintained separately and reused across multiple templates or communications. This fragment uses the form data model created earlier in the tutorial. Within the fragment, a position subform was added to define the layout of the customer address block. The width and height of this position subform should be set to slightly less than the dimensions of the target area defined in the template. This ensures that the fragment fits properly within the target area and avoids layout overflow or alignment issues. Inside this position subform, a text box was added to display the customer address details. Inside the text box, form data model, FDM, elements were inserted to dynamically define the customer’s name and address details. These FDM elements are bound to the underlying data source, allowing the customer information to be populated automatically at runtime. Finally, make sure to save your changes. The order confirmation letter body fragment was created as a reusable, data-driven component. The fragment was associated with a form data model, FDM, to enable dynamic data binding. A text box was added to the fragment canvas and populated with the required static confirmation text. Since the fragment is linked to the FDM relevant FDM elements, such as customer name, order details were inserted into the text to personalize the content dynamically at runtime. To apply formatting options in Designer, you must first select the specific text within the text box. Once the text is selected, the formatting controls in the properties panel become active and can be applied to the highlighted content. Under Typography, you can configure the font family, font style, such as bold, and font size. You can also adjust text alignment, left, center, right, justify, and apply character level formatting. The Appearance section allows you to modify the text color, background fill, borders, and edge settings.

Additionally, the Position and Margin sections provide control over spacing and layout within the document. The Order Details section was formatted as an unordered, bulleted list to clearly present key information in a structured and readable format. The layout rendered as expected.
