Search from the Explorer panel

When working in the Editor interface, you can filter the set of files to view a subset of relevant files you need. Perform the following steps to search files from Explorer:

  1. Select the Search icon from the top-right corner of the Explorer panel or the Search icon present at bottom left of the Content editing area. This opens the Search repository dialog, which offers the same search and filtering experience as the Repository interface on the Home page.

    note note
    NOTE
If there are some search results already present from your current session, selecting the Search icon in the Explorer or the one at the bottom-left of the Content editing area will simply open the panel showing those previous results. To update or refine the searches, select Modify search.

  2. Perform your search and apply filters as needed. For detailed instructions on search and filter options, view Search and filter experience.

  3. Once your search is complete, select Show in Search panel. Your recent searches will then appear in the Search panel on the bottom of the Editor.

  4. To update your search results, select Modify search option in the Search panel and update the criteria to get new results.

After the search results are displayed in the Search panel, you can work with them, either by opening and editing one or multiple files directly from the panel, or dragging and dropping selected files into an existing topic or map to add references.

Search from the Repository interface on the Home page

When you perform a search and apply filters in the Repository interface on the Home page, selecting Show in search panel redirects you to the Editor interface. All your search results will be mirrored in the Search panel at the bottom of the Editor interface.

From the Search panel, you can drag and drop files into your current topic to attach references seamlessly, or edit multiple files at the same time. Additionally, you can refine your search results by using the Modify search option available in the Search panel.
