Data Center Location, Disaster Recovery, and Data Residency Responsibilities in Adobe Experience Manager On-Premise

This article explains the roles and responsibilities for data center location, disaster recovery, and data residency in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) On-Premise deployments. It also describes Adobe’s global support model and provides guidance for organizations with regulatory, compliance, or data residency requirements.

Description description

Environment

Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) On-Premise (all versions)

Issue/Symptoms

  • There is uncertainty about the physical location of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) support and engineering personnel.
  • There are questions about where AEM data and backups are stored.
  • There is a need for clarity regarding responsibility for disaster recovery in AEM On-Premise deployments.
  • Customers need to understand ownership of hosting, infrastructure, data residency, and disaster recovery.
  • There is uncertainty about Adobe’s role in managing or storing customer data for AEM On-Premise environments.

Resolution resolution

Review the following information about data center location, disaster recovery, and data residency in AEM On-Premise deployments.

  1. Understand that your organization, or your chosen hosting provider, hosts and operates AEM On-Premise. Adobe does not host, manage, or store your AEM On-Premise data or logs.
  2. Choose and manage your own primary data center(s) for hosting AEM On-Premise. The physical location of your data depends on where you deploy your servers.
  3. Develop and implement your own disaster recovery (DR) and backup strategy. Select backup locations and regularly test backup and restore processes based on your business requirements.
  4. For data residency requirements, host your AEM servers and storage in regions that comply with your organization’s policies and regulatory requirements. Adobe does not store AEM On-Premise customer data in Adobe-managed cloud regions.
  5. If you need guidance on backup and restore methods, refer to the official AEM documentation for supported approaches, such as repository backups and file system backups. Incorporate these methods into your DR strategy.
  6. For product support, contact Adobe’s globally distributed support and engineering teams through standard support channels.
  7. Verify that your AEM data and backups are stored only in the locations you selected. Also confirm that your disaster recovery (DR) plan meets your organization’s requirements.
