Restore option unavailable in Cloud Manager Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service

In Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service, the Restore Content and Restore Previous Code Deployed options might be unavailable in Cloud Manager. Restore operations don’t start, and no restore activity is initiated. To fix this issue, assign the required restore permissions in the Adobe Admin Console.

Description description

Environment

Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) as a Cloud Service

Issue/Symptoms

  • The Restore Content and Restore Previous Code Deployed options are unavailable or can’t be started in Cloud Manager.
  • Attempts to restore from backup don’t proceed, and no restore activity is initiated.
  • No explicit error message appears, but the restore action isn’t available in the UI.

Cause

The user attempting the restore does not have the required ‘Environment Restore Create’ permission for the affected environment in Cloud Manager. This permission must be assigned via the Adobe Admin Console.

Resolution resolution

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue…

  1. Contact your organization’s Adobe Admin Console administrator.
  2. Sign in to Adobe Admin Console.
  3. Navigate to the Cloud Manager product permissions or the relevant custom product profile.
  4. Assign Program Access for the relevant program and Environment Restore Create for each affected environment to the required user or group.
  5. Apply the permissions to all environments where restore access is required.
  6. Save the changes.
  7. Ask the user to sign out of Cloud Manager and sign back in before retrying the restore operation.
  8. If the objective is to roll back deployed code, use the Restore Previous Code Deployed option if it’s available. This option also requires the Environment Restore Create permission and is available only when a recent successful pipeline execution has occurred, and no pipeline is currently in progress.
  9. Before initiating a full content restore, verify that the selected backup is appropriate because content created or modified after the backup timestamp is lost.
  10. After updating the permissions, confirm that the restore options are available in Cloud Manager.
