Repeated access and permission notification emails in AEM as a Cloud Service
This article explains how to investigate repeated access and permission notification emails related to an AEM as a Cloud Service environment. These notifications can result from manual or automated changes to user group assignments or product entitlements. To fix this, review the affected user’s access changes, identify the process making the changes, adjust the responsible integration or script when necessary, and monitor for additional notifications.
Description description
Environment
- Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service (all versions)
- Adobe Admin Console user and access management
- Adobe IMS users, user groups, and product entitlements
Issue/Symptoms
- Users receive repeated email notifications stating that access was granted or that permission settings were altered for their AEM as a Cloud Service environment, even when no manual changes were made.
- The notification contains the following message: Your administrator has altered some permission settings for Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service. This does not affect your access to other Adobe products and services. If you think this was done in error, please contact your administrator.
- The notifications continue after users attempt to change their notification preferences.
Cause
Repeated access and permission notification emails are typically triggered by changes to user product entitlements or group assignments in the Adobe Admin Console. These changes can result from manual administrator actions or automated provisioning processes that periodically update user access.
Resolution resolution
Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:
- Log in to the Adobe Admin Console with administrator privileges.
- Open Users and locate the affected user account.
- Review recent changes to the user’s group assignments or product entitlements for AEM as a Cloud Service environments.
- Determine whether the changes were made manually by an administrator or automatically by a system process, such as automated provisioning or periodic updates.
- If an automated process is causing repeated changes, review the integrations or scripts that update user entitlements and adjust them as needed.
- Advise the affected users to review their notification preferences in the Adobe Admin Console.
- After making the necessary adjustments, monitor for additional notifications to determine whether the issue has been resolved.
Note: Some system-generated notifications may not be disabled when they are triggered by actual permission changes.
