New Relic Synthetic Monitoring is unavailable in Adobe-managed AEMaaCS accounts

In Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service, you can open Adobe-managed New Relic from Cloud Manager, but you cannot create Synthetic monitors, API keys, log ingestion keys, or alerting rules. Permission errors occur because the Adobe-provided New Relic account is intentionally limited to read-only APM access. As a result, your attempts to save monitors or manage the New Relic organization fail by design. Verify that your environment uses the Adobe-managed New Relic account and use a supported alternative for Synthetic Monitoring.

Description description

Environment

  • Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service
  • Cloud Manager
  • Adobe-managed New Relic account

Issue/Symptoms

  • New Relic returns You do not have permission to save monitors on this account.
  • New Relic returns This looks like a job for an admin – You don’t have permission to manage your organization.
  • You cannot save a Synthetic monitor, or the Synthetic monitor creation UI is disabled.
  • You cannot create API keys or log ingestion keys.
  • You cannot configure alerting or organization-level settings.

Cause

Adobe provisions a dedicated New Relic sub-account for AEM as a Cloud Service that is restricted to read-only APM capabilities. Synthetic Monitoring, alerting, log ingestion, API key creation, and organization-level configuration are not supported in that Adobe-managed account. Permission errors appear because those features are intentionally unavailable.

Resolution resolution

To resolve permission errors for Synthetic Monitoring in Adobe-managed AEMaaCS New Relic, follow these steps:

  1. Confirm that the environment is Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service and that New Relic is accessed through Cloud Manager.
  2. Explain to users that the Adobe-managed New Relic account provides read-only APM access only.
  3. Do not attempt to create Synthetic monitors, API keys, log ingestion keys, or alerting rules in the Adobe-managed account, because those features are unsupported.
  4. Use a customer-owned New Relic account if Synthetic Monitoring is required.
  5. Use another supported monitoring solution if the organization needs capabilities that are not available in the Adobe-managed New Relic account.
  6. If there is uncertainty about whether the account is Adobe-managed or customer-owned, contact Adobe Support.
