Cause
The Orderable option is intended for cases where manual ordering provides clear value. For most scalable DAM structures, unordered folders are a better fit, and ordered folders also have a documented sharing limitation.
Resolution resolution
To decide when to use the Orderable option for DAM folders, follow these steps:
- Understand that enabling Orderable makes the folder a
sling:OrderedFolder, which allows manual drag-and-drop ordering of its children in the DAM List View. - Understand that if Orderable is left unchecked, the folder remains a regular
sling:Folder, and its contents are sorted automatically by name, date, or other available sorting options. - Enable Orderable for root-level folders or for folders with a small number of children when manual ordering is helpful for quick access.
- Do not enable Orderable for folders that are expected to contain many assets or subfolders, because manual ordering becomes impractical and may affect performance.
- Do not enable Orderable for folders that need to be shared, because orderable folders are not eligible for sharing.
- For large folders, use automatic sorting or search features instead of manual ordering.
