Dynamic Media video assets fail to process and are unusable in Sites components in AEMaaCS
This article addresses an issue where Dynamic Media video assets are not processed correctly and cannot be used in AEM Sites components after you enable immediate publishing at the global level. To fix this, verify the Dynamic Media configuration, check asset processing status, reprocess and republish affected assets, and test the asset in the Sites component.
Description description
Environment
Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service
Issue/Symptoms
- After you enable immediate publishing for Dynamic Media at the global setup level, newly uploaded video assets are not processed correctly.
- Affected videos cannot be used in the Dynamic Media component on AEM Sites. For example, the video does not display as expected in the component.
- Reprocessing and republishing the asset sometimes resolves the issue temporarily.
- The problem recurs after you reprocess all videos in specific folders.
- All assets in the affected folder are expected to have automatic Dynamic Media processing applied.
- No explicit error messages appear in the UI, but the assets remain unusable in the Sites component.
Open the affected video asset in AEM Assets and verify its Dynamic Media processing status.
Cause
Enabling immediate publishing at the global level does not always trigger the required Dynamic Media processing for assets that are out of sync. In these cases, the assets may require manual reprocessing and republishing to generate the renditions needed for use in AEM Sites components.
Resolution resolution
To address the issue, follow these steps:
-
In AEM Assets, open the affected video asset and verify its processing status.
-
Check whether Dynamic Media renditions were generated for the asset.
- If renditions are missing, manually reprocess the asset.
- If the issue affects multiple assets, repeat this check for the affected folder.
-
Open the Dynamic Media configuration and verify that immediate publishing is enabled at the global level.
-
Confirm that the configuration applies to all relevant folders that contain the affected video assets.
-
Republish the affected video assets to synchronize them with Dynamic Media.
- If multiple assets are affected, republish them in bulk.
-
In AEM Sites, add the processed video asset to the Dynamic Media component and confirm that it displays and functions as expected.
-
Check the asset processing and publish logs for warnings or errors related to Dynamic Media.
- Address any issues that you find, such as missing renditions or failed processing steps.
-
If the issue continues, gather the relevant logs and asset details, then contact Adobe Support for further investigation.
