AEM asset report email notifications are not sent or not available

You expect AEM to send an email when an asset report is generated, or want recurring scheduled delivery, but no email arrives and no option to enable it appears. Most AEM report interfaces - the New Assets View, Brand Portal, Experience Audit Reports, Dynamic Media Delivery Reports, and ACS Commons Reports - do not support automated email, scheduling, or report storage, so the missing notification is expected behavior rather than a failure. Only classic AEM 6.5 Asset Reports can optionally send email, while AEMaaCS Asset Reports send inbox notifications only. To address this, confirm which interface and report type you are using, and either enable email on classic Asset Reports or use a supported alternative such as manual download or custom automation.

Description description

Environment

  • Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service
  • AEM as a Cloud Service – Assets (New Assets View)
  • Adobe Experience Manager Assets Brand Portal
  • Adobe Experience Manager 6.5 (classic Asset Reports)

Issue/Symptoms

  • You generate a report in Tools > Assets > Reports, but no email is received even though the report completes successfully.
  • You cannot find any option in the New Assets View or Brand Portal to forward or schedule reports automatically.
  • Experience Audit reports in Cloud Manager pipelines do not send email notifications, although they appear in the UI.
  • You cannot save report templates or schedule periodic report generation; the UI allows only manual report creation.

Root cause

Most AEM report types do not support automated email notifications, scheduling, or report storage. Only classic AEM 6.5 Asset Reports can optionally send email. AEMaaCS Asset Reports send inbox notifications only, and Brand Portal, the New Assets View, Dynamic Media Delivery Reports, Experience Audit Reports, and ACS Commons Reports do not include email delivery or scheduling functionality. Missing notifications are therefore expected behavior, not a system failure.

Steps to reproduce

  • Identify which interface you are generating reports from - classic Asset Reports, the New Assets View, Cloud Manager Experience Audit, or Brand Portal. Check the page URL (classic Asset Reports use /mnt/overlay/dam/gui/content/reports; the Assets View uses /assets.html).
  • Check whether the report interface shows any option for email. If no email option is present, email is not supported for that report type.

Resolution resolution

To fix the issue:

  1. Confirm which interface you are generating reports from by opening AEM Author > Tools > Assets > Reports, the New Assets View, or Brand Portal, and note the report type.

  2. Determine whether your report type supports email notifications:

    • AEM 6.5 classic Asset Reports - email notifications optional.
    • AEMaaCS Asset Reports - inbox notifications only, no email.
    • New Assets View - no email option.
    • Brand Portal Reports - no built-in scheduling or email.
    • Experience Audit Reports (Cloud Manager) - no email option.
    • ACS Commons Reports - no built-in email automation.
  3. If you use AEM 6.5 classic Asset Reports, enable the email service. Go to Tools > Operations > Web Console > OSGi Configuration, open Day CQ DAM Resource Collection Servlet, enable send email, save the configuration, and generate a test report.

  4. Verify the result. Confirm the inbox notification appears (on both AEMaaCS and AEM 6.5). For AEM 6.5, confirm a test email is received and that your mail server accepts mail from AEM.

  5. If your product combination does not support email, use a supported alternative: download the report manually and distribute it, or implement custom automation using workflows, an external cron job, or API calls.

  6. If you use AEM 6.5 classic Asset Reports and no email arrives even with send email enabled, contact Adobe Support with screenshots of the OSGi configuration, the timestamp of the test report, your mail server acceptance logs, and the relevant UI screenshots.
