Customer segment product view rule doesn’t match registered customers in Commerce

A customer segment configured to match registered customers based on viewed products does not update when those products are viewed. The segment evaluation doesn’t record product views until the correct Commerce reporting settings are enabled, which prevents the segment from matching registered customers as expected. To resolve the issue, enable the Product View report and refresh the segment data.

Issue/Symptoms

  • The Matched Registered Customers count remains at zero for the segment.
  • The segment uses a Product was viewed condition to evaluate customer activity.
  • Registered customers view the specified products, but the segment doesn’t update.
  • Refreshing the segment data doesn’t change the matched customer count.

Root cause

The Product was viewed condition relies on report-based tracking of product views. When the Enable Product View Report is disabled, Commerce doesn’t record product views for segment evaluation, so the Matched Registered Customers count stays at zero.

Resolution resolution

Follow the steps below to address the issue:

  1. Navigate to Stores > Configuration in the Adobe Commerce Admin.
  2. Go to General > Reports and open General Options.
  3. Set Enable Reports to Yes.
  4. Set Enable Product View Report to Yes.
  5. Save the configuration changes.
  6. Sign in as a registered customer and view one of the specified products.
  7. Refresh the segment data and verify that the Matched Registered Customers count updates correctly.
