Dynamic content blocks break after ACS to ACC migration in Adobe Campaign

This article explains why certain type of dynamic content blocks supported in Campaign Standard doesn’t work in Campaign Classic V8.

Description description

Environment

  • Product: Adobe Campaign, Adobe Campaign v8
  • Scenario: Migration from Adobe Campaign Standard (ACS) to Adobe Campaign Classic v8 (ACC v8)

Issue/Symptoms

  • Dynamic content blocks become broken and unusable after migration from Campaign Standard to Campaign Classic v8.
  • Dynamic content splits into separate blocks in affected workflows.
  • Conditions display as unreadable text containing rules and additional metadata.

Resolution resolution

To address broken dynamic content blocks after migrating from Campaign Standard to Campaign v8, follow these steps:

  1. Understand that in the Campaign v8 Web UI Email Designer, Adobe limits dynamic content support to structural and component-level elements, and text-level dynamic content support has been intentionally removed.
  2. Recognize that this change was made because Handlebars or XTK syntax can achieve the same dynamic behavior inside text blocks, and the removed features are not available through the user interface in Campaign v8.
  3. Create new delivery templates in Campaign v8 using only the dynamic content features that are available in the Email Designer.
  4. Review delivery templates migrated from Campaign Standard and adapt them so they no longer rely on text-level dynamic content blocks and instead use supported dynamic content or Handlebars/XTK expressions.
