Issue/Symptoms
- Some
.tiffiles uploaded to AEM fail to preview or render properly. - The issue is caused by unsupported compression methods.
- Logs show the error unknown/unsupported compression.
Cause
AEM uses a version of the Commons Imaging library that doesn’t support certain TIFF compression methods, such as JPEG and Adobe Deflate.
Resolution resolution
To fix this issue, follow these steps:

Check AEM logs for errors related to unsupported TIFF compression.

Review metadata of the affected
.tiffiles:- Files using JPEG or Adobe Deflate compression fail to preview.
- Files using Uncompressed compression work correctly.

Re-save the problematic files using a supported compression method like Uncompressed.

Upload the updated files to AEM and confirm they preview correctly.
