Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), v6.5

Issue/Symptoms

Some .tif files uploaded to AEM fail to preview or render properly.
The issue is caused by unsupported compression methods.
Logs show the error unknown/unsupported compression.

Cause

AEM uses a version of the Commons Imaging library that doesn’t support certain TIFF compression methods, such as JPEG and Adobe Deflate.

Resolution resolution

To fix this issue, follow these steps:

Check AEM logs for errors related to unsupported TIFF compression.
Review metadata of the affected .tiffiles:
- Files using JPEG or Adobe Deflate compression fail to preview.
- Files using Uncompressed compression work correctly.
Re-save the problematic files using a supported compression method like Uncompressed.
Upload the updated files to AEM and confirm they preview correctly.
