Issue

An Admin user with restricted permissions cannot delete customers from the Customers grid.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. In the Admin panel, go to Stores > Settings > All Stores. Verify that Main Website has its default Main Website Store and Default Store View. Create the following:

    • A store: Click Create Store, set Web Site to Main Website, enter Group A in Name, enter a unique Code, and click Save Store.
    • A store view: Click Create Store View, set Store to Group A, enter Store View A in Name, enter a unique Code, set Status to Enabled, and click Save Store View.
  2. Create a customer account through Default Store View so the customer belongs to Main Website and Default Store View.

  3. Go to System > Permissions > User Roles and click Add New Role.

  4. In Role Resources, select Customers > All Customers and its Delete permission.

  5. In Role Scopes, select Custom for Main Website and allow Group A only, leaving Main Website Store unselected.

  6. Create an Admin user and assign it to the restricted role.

  7. Sign in to the Admin panel as the restricted user.

  8. Go to Customers > All Customers.

  9. Select the customer and select Delete from the Actions drop-down menu.

Expected results:

The restricted Admin user can open and delete the customer, because the customer’s website is in the role scope, even though the customer was created in a store view outside the role scope.

Actual results:

The customer is not deleted, and the Admin displays the following error message: More permissions are needed to view this item.
