ACP2E-4615: PayPal online order refunds fail with error PayPal gateway rejects the request. Internal Error.

The ACP2E-4615 patch fixes the issue where online order refunds fail with a PayPal error stating, PayPal gateway rejects the request. Internal Error.. This patch is available when the Quality Patches Tool (QPT) 1.1.80 is installed. The patch ID is ACP2E-4615. Please note that this issue is scheduled to be fixed in Adobe Commerce 2.4.9.

Issue

Online order refunds fail with a PayPal error stating, PayPal gateway rejects the request. Internal Error..

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a product with a price = $100.
  2. Place the order using $50 of store credit and PayPal as the payment method.
  3. Create an invoice for the order.
  4. Start creating a credit memo with Adjustment Fee = $50, so that the Grand Total = $0.
  5. Click Refund to perform an online refund.

Expected results:

It shouldn’t be possible to create refunds with a Grand Total = $0. The Refund button should be disabled.

Actual results:

  1. The credit memo isn’t created. The error PayPal gateway rejects the request. Internal Error (#10001: Internal Error). appears.
